Greg August, a Sun City resident and community activist, has picked up paperwork to file as a candidate for Menifee City Council in District 1, City Clerk Kathy Bennett confirmed today.

August is a regular at City Council meetings and has been outspoken in working to protect the interests of residents in Sun City, which in 2008 became incorporated within the City of Menifee. District 1 -- one of four districts under the new city council system of representation -- includes primarily Sun City and the northwest portion of incorporated Menifee.

Monday was the first day residents wishing to run for city council or mayor in November were allowed to pull paperwork. No one has turned in a completed application so far, Bennett said.

Candidates must turn in an application with a minimum of 20 signatures (maximum of 30) of registered voters living within their district. No one is officially qualified to run for office until Bennett sends the applications to the Registrar of Voters office for verification of the signatures.

Applications must be submitted prior to Aug. 10.

  1. Look at his public statements and observe his conduct at the council meetings and make your own decision, I have made mine.

  2. He is the person for District One and all of it's residents. He has been walking District One talking to the residents and getting their opinions on what they want and need. He is sincere in wanting the best for the people and will work to make sure our wishes are heard and hopefully acted on. What Greg August says.....he means. He goes to the people to hear what they think and want and does not ask them to pay to hear what he will do if he represents this district. Ask yourselves " why would You want to pay any of your hard earned money to hear what Krisjansson says she will do for you?" Krisjansson is for more developers, more traffic, and turning our area into another Hemet or Orange County. The choice is up to us in November. Don't be fooled because if we do we are stuck with what District One will become!
