Often, one's family physician isn't personally involved in the treatment of a serious medical condition that involves what is commonly known as urgent care.
Dr. Vadim Gurvits is an exception to the rule.
Dr. Gurvits operates a family practice in Menifee, but he also specializes in several aspects of medicine in what he likes to call his "one stop shop" for patients. One of these is his urgent care practice.
Patients requiring immediate attention for an emergency medical situation don't have to travel to a hospital emergency room or wait for a referral to a specialist. They may visit Dr. Gurvits' office virtually any day -- six days a week, including holidays -- for immediate treatment and evaluation of an urgent situation.
His office in the Haun Road Hub includes equipment for taking X-rays, applying a temporary cast, administering IV and hydration, and much more. Serious cases are transported right from the office to a local hospital for additional treatment.
"If a patient has chest pain, breaks a bone, has a foreign body in their eyes ... we're prepared to take care of them, whatever happens to them," Dr. Gurvits said. "We stabilize them and transport if necessary.
"We can replace the ER for most conditions. If they need a hospital, we can arrange that. Most of the time the treatment can take place in our office, which saves the patient time and expense."
Dr. Gurvits estimates that about once a month, a patient is transported to the hospital. Many problems are solved right there in his office. X-rays are examined immediately. If the patient needs a CT scan or MRI, they are sent to another office in the building for immediate scanning.
This kind of personal and immediate care are what sets Dr. Gurvits' office apart from many emergency room situations.
"We don't have long waits here," he said. "We're not swamped with patients. Plus my staff has been with me for a long time. They are very compassionate and attentive. They do whatever it takes to make the the person comfortable."
In addition to family practice care and urgent care, Dr. Gurvits provides weight loss treatment, suboxone therapy and aesthetics treatment. His office is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

urgent care physicians are really in demand today
ReplyDeleteDr. Gurvits has been my family doctor since 1999 and has always given me the best care possible. I had become very ill, transported by ambulance to the hospital in the middle of the night and spent 4 days there, without anyone diagnosing my problem. I left the hospital, went straight to Dr. Gurvits, and was diagnosed and treated in 1 hour. He helped me fully recover from a life-threatening illness that the doctors in the hospital missed for 4 days!
ReplyDeleteHis staff is very compassionate and friendly. They get to know their patients, care about them, and treat everyone with dignity and respect. When I've referred his office to friends, they have all told me how happy they are to find him.
I would recommend Dr. Gurvits to everyone who wants a doctor that truly cares about meeting the needs of his patients rather than cares about meeting the needs of the insurance companies.
I have been going to Dr. Gurvits for about 3 years. I have only used him when I have small issues like a sinus infection as he is able to see patients without an appointment. His staff is very friendly and the office has never seemed crowded. Definitely the best urgent care experience I've had, even compared to those based at large prestigious hospitals (UCI, Scripps, Loma Linda).
