Donahue Schriber, the owner of Countryside Marketplace, is hosting the official grand opening of, Countryside Marketplace.

It'll take place Friday June 5, 2009, and last all weekend long through Sunday.

There's going to be free food samplings and beverage tastings, live entertainment, strolling balloon artists, free face painting for kids, clowns, giveaways and live radio broadcasts.

Radio stations KATY-FM 101.3 and KCXX-FM 103.9 will be there running live remote broadcasts, and will be giving away a pair of Jonas Brothers concert tickets and tickets for the Catalina Flyer. KFROG-FM 92.9 will be also be doing a live remote, but will be giving away concert tickets to Richie McDonald, former lead singer of Lonestar, and tickets to Jack Ingram.

Shoppers who bring a $25 or more receipt from a Countryside Marketplace merchant to any of the live radio remotes on Friday, Saturday or Sunday will receive a free jumbo zip tote bag or stainless steel thermos tumbler, while supplies last.

Attendees can also enter to win $50, $100 and $250 shopping spree gift cards from various Countryside Marketplace retailers, as well as enter raffles at Lowe’s, Affordable Portable, Verizon Wireless and Starbucks.

Throughout the grand opening weekend, festivities will be taking place around the pond in the food court area with the Will Faeber Trio kicking things off Friday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Hill Country Band will perform live on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Sunday the Kevin Cameron Band will take the stage from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the main entrance.

There will be a place set up for kids, a game area with free prizes and bounce house jumpers.

Whimsical Frozen Yogurt, Maui Island Grill and other food court restaurants will be offering food samplings all weekend long, while Beverages & More will feature beer and wine tastings on Friday and Saturday.

So Why a Grand Opening Several Months After the Fact?

I asked that question to Donahue Schriber's marketing folks, who explained that grand openings for large shopping centers don't usually take place until several months after they've opened. They usually wait until all of the smaller merchants get settled in, which often takes months and months to complete.

Plus, they wanted to do this celebration during the warmer months.

  1. Affordable Portables is the AT&T store by Red Robin, the also have a coupon on the mailer and are one of the only 3 places to drop off the raffle tickets before the grand opening.

  2. I will be really EXCITED when all the vacant spaces are filled in!

  3. I love this shopping center. It's beautiful, with great outdoor seating, it's clean, safe, I always see security out on their Segways and Golf carts. I hope this will be the model for all other retail in Menifee. Even a strip mall can be made to look upscale.

  4. I wonder if we can get a YMCA across the street from the market place.

  5. I would love to see a Movie theatre!!

  6. Yes, indeed! A MOVIE THEATRE will be GREAT!

  7. Let's all show our support for this shopping center by coming out and spending a little dough there that weekend.

  8. Now if the city or county would just put a bridge over the 215 at Holland Rd. to eliminate the massive traffic on Newport I might be able to shop here more often. It takes 30 minutes to get to the Marketplace and I only live 3 miles away.

  9. to above post....100% AGREE, build an overpass

  10. The market place looks great. As you drive by on the freeway it looks like a place i would feel comfortable stopping and shopping. However the other side of the freeway where the old target is looks terrible. Both from the freeway and the Antelope. Anyway the community can encourage the owner of that square to update cosmetically hopefully something to match the market place?. I know in these times thats alot to ask but if both sides look nice and safe maybe Menifee can fill some of those empty spaces in the Ralphs center. You have to admit that side looks VERY run down.....

  11. Yes, an overpass on Newport Road. I live less than .5 mile from the shopping center and still takes me l5-20 minutes to get over there.

  12. Mr Mann, I believe you read this blog often (which is great). Can you comment on any plans to put an overpass at Holland and what the time frame might be. 1yr, 3yrs? Of course no one will hold to the time frame answer but what is your opinion? This seems to be pressing issue.
    Thanks
BTW - I appreciate you commenting here even if I don't always agree with your views or ideas I like the fact that you put yourself out there. Let's hear from the other City Council members.

  14. Future plans of widening the bridge on Newport Rd. actually on the books and from what I heard the Scott Rd. bridge will be widened as well.
Before either of these happen and create total chaos a new overpass/bridge needs to be built at Holland Rd. This will not only provide easier access to all of us that live on the Eastern Side of the 215, but will eliminate at least 25 to 50 percent of the traffic congestion on both Scott Rd. and Newport Rd.

I would love to hear what the City Council plans are for this. We need something done soon as the traffic is getting worse every day and nothing has been done to ease it.

  15. If a Holland Rd overpass is going to be built soon, plans have to be submitted to Cal-Trans, RIGHT NOW. Cal-Trans is planning to widen the I-215 soon, perhaps in another year.

  16. According to the Press Enterprise a few months ago the 215 was only being widened up to Scott Rd. Future plans include widening it from Scott Rd. past Newport. Thus, the need for the widening of the bridges at Scott Rd. and Newport Rd. As long as the bridge to be built hopefully include wide enough to support 3 lanes in each direction on the 215 then a bridge a Holland would not require plans to Cal-Trans. This is called future planning which is something that is always lacking and ends up costing cities, counties and the state more money in the long run. If all streets, bridges, etc. were planned properly for future expansion then there would never be a need for closures, tear downs and rebuilds. However, it keeps several people employed at a high cost to all taxpayers.

  17. 1. Traffic at Newport/Haun is a joke.

    2. Would be nice if we can get Costco.

    ReplyDelete
  18. A Super Costco next to Lowe's would be fantastic. It would keep people from going shopping in Temecula.

  19. I wonder if they will mention that the Haiwaiian place has a B rating?

  20. I'm not surprized the deliveries are carried in the front door and out of one of the workers car while he smokes...I wouldn't eat there if someone was giving it way free...

    ReplyDelete
  21. I have eaten there a couple of times. the food is ok, not the best hawaii style bbq but then I never saw the B rating. Now I am worried. What a bummer. Hope they get there act together and get an A before I go back.

  22. The "Hawaiian Place" Has a current "A" rateing FYI...

  23. Widen the overpass on Newport??? That was just done!! An overpass at Holland or La Pedra sounds better. Need to finish Holland completely. Shucks, I've lived here ten years and don't have street sweeping services.

  24. Was at the marketplace Sunday trying to find a parking space by Target that did NOT have a shopping cart in a parking space. Everyone wants more gyms, places to walk and run but can't take a few steps to put away the damn carts! How lazy people are around here!

  25. Went by and saw the Weekend Entertainment..listen this is not your good ole boy Country and Western town...any longer..you could tell from the capacity crowd of 12 and that included the band.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Does anyone know when the Michaels will be open?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Does anyone know what are the two new stores in construction?
One advertises to be Michael's; but the other one has no identification.
Any clues? Also, any updates on the empty restaurant lots?
    Thanks!
