Paloma Valley High School football standout Randy Ruple recently signed a letter of intent to continue his playing career and education at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York.

Ruple played offensive line, defensive end and long snapper for the Wildcats under coach Tom Tello. The 6-foot, 240-pound senior plans to head back east in July to prepare for his first year in the federal service academy.

After spending a year at sea as part of the experience, Ruple plans a career in the Merchant Marine Industry or as an officer in the military.
