whimsical yogurtWhimsical Yogurt opened up last weekend in Countryside Marketplace. It's located right next door to Breakfast Club of Menifee.

I just noticed it this afternoon.

Right now, until this Friday, they have 50% off of their frozen yogurt as part of their grand opening celebration. Normally, it's priced at $0.39 per ounce. But technically, the offer is running until the end of this month, because sitting next to the cash register is a stack of "Buy one get one free" coupons. So, you can get two cups of frozen yogurt, and pay only 50% of the price.

They give you these large to-go cups, about the size of a margarine container, and you fill it up as much as you want. Throw on all the toppings you want, and pay by the ounce.

They also offer these super-tiny cups to sample their flavors for free.

The also have gelato and sorbet.

The place has a 1960s-style space age decor that reminds me of eating ice cream in Tomorrowland.

According to their website, it looks like this Menifee location is only the third Whimsical Yogurt to open. There are others in Hacienda Heights, and San Jose. They have future locations planned, including Temecula, and Murrieta.

There's also free Wi-Fi. I'm guessing the signal leaks over to Breakfast Club of Menifee. You'll likely catch me blogging at both these places.

  1. Really good yogurt and even better Gelato. Yummm. I love Countryside Marketplace. Unless I need to visit Macy's or Homegoods I don't need to leave Menifee. Finally!!

  2. I tried their Gelato and it was awesome! I had never had Gelato before. Loved it! So glad to have them in Menifee!

  3. Steve, your coverage is SO descriptive, whether its a meeting someplace or a business visit; you'd make a great PR reporter! Now I can't wait for the hot, hot days to enjoy this place! Do you know of any 'for-certain' businesses yet to come to the Market?

    ReplyDelete
  4. The only "for certain" business to come that I know of is Michael's. It's currently under construction (between Kohl's and Target.)

  5. anyone know of any GOOD BAR B QUE places close to menifee?

  6. Whatever happened to WAMU bank built in the new mall? Would be nice to have one on this side of town.

  7. Went there the other day and the service was lousy! The young girl didn't assist much and looked as though she just wanted to leave. Don't know if I'll continue to go there with service so bad.

  8. Ok bad service but how was the Yogurt, & did you get her name and made a complaint about the bad service you have experience I'm sure there is plenty of better candidates’ weighting in line to get a job and do a way better job than that individual.

  9. I went last week and the service was awesome. They explained the process for the yogurt, offered me samples and the staff checked later to see if I was enjoying it. I was as they have no sugar added yogurt - good for us diabetics.

  10. Me too. I was greeted the instant I entered the store and offered many samples and they explained things to me. That happened each time I went in. I think they have great service. And love their gelato!

  11. Went there last night and was originally greated and offered samples of gelato. I chose yogart and had a very difficult time getting it as there were two employees standing in front of the machines talking with their friends. Based on there attitude I was the one in the way.

When I went to use the toppings, the same group moved there. Outside of the one girl who originally greeted, everyone else was too busy socializing. The girl who was on the register seemed bored and I had to ask her to explain the charging method.

Hoping these are just some early issues that go away in time. yogart not bad.

  12. Amazing. :]
    I love Whimsical.
I'll probably keep going there and forget about Coldstone all together :]

And apparently, I was the first person to point out that their coupons say, "Manifee," California, rather than Menifee :]
    That made me laugh.

  13. The place was great. Huge selection. Was greeted and helped when needed. The young girls at the counter do attract the young boys, not so bad. Rather them eat yogart than other things.

    ReplyDelete
  14. So is it like "self service" style? If so I will be thrilled!

    ReplyDelete
  15. The sorbet machines and toppings are self-serve. The gelato, however, sits behind a glass case.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The hazelnut gelato is the BEST gelato I have EVER had. The staff was exceptionally nice and friendly. I love the Countryside Marketplace too, and travel less and less to Temecula.

  17. we need an adult book store!

  18. I keep going back because I love the yogurt, but the girls inside make me uncomfortable. When I ask questions they look at me like I am speaking a foreign language to them.
For my first visit, nothing was explained, I just stood there while the two girls chatted. When I went to pay both times they just look at me and wait for me to say I am ready, even though it is really clear that I am ready. My yogurt cup siiting on their scale should be a tip off.

  19. Whimsical frozen yogurt brings more live to Menifee. Thanks! It's a fun place to go and enjoy its healthy treats.
The decor is super, the store is very clean and the staffs are very friendly, not too serious while working in store. But I wish they talk to each other less and pay attention or talk to customers more. Well, they are high school children! I have young children at home, and do understand them.
The yogurts are good with 10 flavors, I love peanut butter most. I also found out that their gelatos are very creamy, but light, not too sweet, especially its' made fresh as I peeked when their kitchen door half open :) They squize "a lot" of fresh lemons and chop fresh fruits!! I like pineapple, lemon sorbet, pistachio and coffee break gelato wow, so yummy!!
Thanks CountrysideMarket Place for bringing in this Whimsical.

  20. Totally agree with the comment about the some of the girls that work there. Need to learn customer service.

  21. Hey, stupid. It's spelled YOUGURT and I'm sorry that you had a bad Valentine's Day. I went there that same day and I thought the service was fantasic along with the YOGURT and gelato. I see that other people have had the same experience I had. Maybe you should come in and give them another try. Hope you do and hav a positive attitude this time. If not, I feel bad for you. That place is AWESOME.

  22. Whimsical is one of the best things to come to Menifee! I am a frequent customer. Like daily! I enjoy the selection of yogurt and gelato. It's nice to have healthy treats!

The one thing I enjoy about the store is the happy feeling I get when I visit. The girls that work there are adorable! They are happy energetic teenage girls, who apparently enjoy working together. During the first few weeks of business, it was crazy busy! But, somehow the girls did a very good job of explaining how the store worked. I think I samples EVERYTHING! It was all delish! It's a fun store. I have always had great service with a smile!!

  23. I have been to whimsical at least 5times since they've opened! The Gelato is so delicius. My favorites are pineapple and coffee break. the service is okay and the girls do talk too much, but the little girl that looks like a midgett is always on top of things when I'm there. shes so cute and very friendly! I'm so glad to have a snack so healthy in our town!

  27. Love this place, the girl by the name of Ashley is the best. Very outgoing, pleasant and excellent customer service, shes also very cute!!! The only reason we will return is when she's working. Thank you Ashley..

  28. Whimsical Frozen yogurt is okay. What frozen yogurt place doesn't have carob chips? I am a big fan of those and would love it if they would get those in.

    ReplyDelete
  29. they do have carob chips. i went yesterday and had them on my frozen yogurt. and I do know Ashley as well. she is adorable but very rude. i come in from time to time and she is normally there. i asked her for a lid on my gelato and she rolled her eyes at me. terrible customer service.

  30. I love Whimsical!!! I have always enjoyed frozen yogurt and am so happy they opened up so close!!! The store is always clean and so far every time I've been in (and I go at least a couple times a week) I have had good service. I'm usually greeted when I walk in the door. I’m sure people will have the occasional run in with some teenager with an attitude, but that can happen pretty much anywhere!(If they give you a hard time maybe you should "accidentally" spill one of the large to-go containers of yogurt on the floor :)...hehe) Their yogurt is still great and plan to continue to go there... frequently!!

  31. Im sorry I just to comment on how funny it sounds to me to hear people say...its a healthy treat when theyre eating it several times a week and to top it off every time I visit any of these new self serve "natural" yogurt places no one seems to want to give me their nutritional facts!!
I even had 1 employee respond to me.. & i quote, "i know its shady ha". Come on people atleast all other "treat places" dont hide, y should they????
hmmmmm lets all ponder on that!
    :)

  32. I just thought I would add my thoughts. I took my wife and two kids., my boy is a little over 3. The music was so loud we could not hear each other...I don't mind loud music but when it's so loud you can't hear an order...its not good. There was a little girl sitting there with her hands over her ears. The service was horrible..the young girls were so busy talking to each other an a group of boys they could not be bother to assit us. The yogurt was good...but they really need to work on customer service.. I droped a spoon and asked for another and the young lady..said "..wow, I better give you 2 then..".not in a nice thoughtful way.but in a your a dumb A.ss..way..Not sure I will go back

  33. i think it's so funny how everybody sits here and makes terrible comments on these girls.Dont YOU remember what it was like being a teenager. at least they are making the effort to work and not out on the streets doing drugs and stuff.Trust me,i have 2 teenage daughters of my own. They are all like that. so grow up and leaves these kids alone!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Whimsical is great! I thought the service was great for an ice cream place. Yes the music was playing, yes there are teenagers running the operation; but its an ice cream place. Laid back and I thought they were professional and courteous for an yougurt shop. Very clean as well. I agree with the other posters, at least they are working instead of vandalizing the market place.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The previous two commenters are really misguided. Because they are teenagers not getting into trouble, we are supposed to be treated rudely. Wow, I didn't know that it's ok for teenagers to treat customers so bad as long as they are working and not getting into trouble. How stupid!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Really menifee????
i agree with the previous comments..about how we shouldn't be so hard on them. Everytime i go into the store i get greeted with a big smile and asked if i have ever been in there before. even though it does kind of get annoying haha it still shows they care. these girls work so hard and all you rude people are just being sooo harsh. these girls probably haven't even been mean to you, your just argreeing with the other people and so on because thats all people ever seem to do these days.
im a regular customer and come at least 3 times a week with my children and friends. i have gotten to know these girls from their performance... and they all are very sweet!!!! i defently will keep on coming back to whimsical for a while!! =]

  37. I LOVE THE CUSTOMER SERVICE THERE!!!! i do agree with the comment before on how they do greet to much...it is a little overwhelming when you first walk in lol but it shows that the girls are really triing hard

  38. I went for the first time today. It was nice. The customer service was friendly. My issue is the furniture! Ha! They do not want you staying long with those slippery seats. My kid kept spinning the table while I was getting napkins and gelato went everywhere! I had to leave before they handed me a bucket and mop! The gelato was very good though and I will go again.

  39. I think whimsical needs to recheck their scale. We have been buying yogurt from San diego to Temecula and Murrieta and whimsical has the most expensive. I not talking about the price I referring to the weight. They also have the most expensive amount per ounce. Most yogurt place change their price to .34 to .36 cents per ounce.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Let me say...This place is AMAZING!!I go all the time with my family and friends it's ridiculous! And I go because the service isn't good but GREAT! So I don't know what the HELL half of you HATE'N A**'s are talking about.I bet you anything either your child got turned down, yourself turned down for the job, you work at some other wack a** yogurt place or simply you ain't got NONE in a while. So you're just a bitter a**[hence the reason we DO need an adult store lol ;) ]] so shut up and either 1.get over it and find a different spot to have a treat or 2. suck it up an enjoy the effing positive environment and good eats =]. Anyway WHIMSICAL let this be motivation to keep rising. You all are doing a great job. =]

ps: one girl in particular had me going about the senior cit. discount.Someone asked "how old do you have to be to get the discount" she said "you have to be dead" it was hilarious. She was a very beautiful girl her name started with a "C" I think, don't know how it was pronounced but I believe she was the only African American girl lol. So yeah in conclusion Menifee needed a place like this and it's doing very well.

  41. Just a note for the owner or manager of Whimsical Yogurt Nice place, employees are friendly, I have been in fast food many years and the one problem that I see is your help is not being consistent with there amounts in the cups. Sometimes very noticeable to others. I have yet to see a manager or owner only employees. The silent customer is the one that closes businesses.

  42. I tried just a sample of the frozen yogurt, I hear the gelato is great! Staff seemed friendly and helpful.

  43. TERRIBLE SERVICE! I work at the Super Target right there in the same shopping center. I'm not one to complain about places at ALL. I'm quite shy and keep to myself but heard of the hype of this new frozen yogurt location. It was there OPENING WEEK and all the yogurt was 50 percent off as I saw advertised around the new shopping center. I asked if they were still offering this when I walked in and I was told yes by a rather big man. I think he was possibly the owner or something. There was no one else in line and only one other person in there eating their dessert. I had no idea how this whole yogurt thing works out. He wasn't sociable and didn't help me whatsoever in explaining how the payment works or how you get the yogurt etc. In fact, he was quite rude, quite and unhelpful. I asked for a sample of that "Gelato" which I've never heard of before. He sighed and gave me a sample all while giving quite a lot of attitude... Needless to say I payed what seemed to be quite overpriced for this Gelato while receiving a very tiny amount. The spoon I was given was so small which I guess makes sense for the tiny amount of this Gelato was given. However this gentleman range me up full price, not giving me the 50 percent off as promised when I entered. So basically I got rude, unhelpful service A tiny amount of Gelato which I was overcharged and had to pay the already overpriced amount. Never even heard a "Thank You!" or "Have a nice day!" or anything of that nature.

I will NOT be coming back and hopefully if anyone decides to venture out and give Whimsical a try they will receive better service.

  44. I have gone there every Friday and Saturday since hey opened and I LOVE IT! Their service is not bad either..actually its good. I ahve never gottne wrong change cause quutie honestly, that is all the service that I need in a self-serve yogurt shop. Spend in Menifee..you grow Menifee.

they have a myspace! i guess if you go to it they plan on keeping it updated about current flavors and sales and stuff like that.

  46. I have been a couple of times recently and have received very pleasant service, and helpful as I also didn't know where to start. The non fat yogurt with fresh fruit is so good I don't even feel like I'm being good. What is surprising to me is that the center is allowing a Baskin Robbins to go in two doors down. That just seems wrong!
