Wednesday, Mayor Edgerton gave the State of the City Address at the Masonic Lodge in Menifee.

I didn't attend the address, but Mike Thompson did. He created a four and a half minute video of the highlights...

The Mayor said that the vendors at Countryside Marketplace (or what he coined as "Haun Mall") are doing a lot of business and are on track to earning profits there. He went on to add that Countryside Marketplace is strategically located on the I-215 corridor, and that this corridor is vital to Menifee's economic growth. He also said that the city is well into the black in terms of finances, and that the city government is "listening to the music of the people".

Mike runs Thompson Media Group which helps businesses with sales and marketing. They publish a business-focused website called MenifeeBusiness.com. Thanks Mike for the video.

  1. The clips are a good community service.

    The production stinks.

  2. The speech was absolutely pathetic!

  3. The speech did not do anything for me especially about the line on singing and listening to us. Yeah, right the council has not listened to us yet.

    The production did suck!

  4. Who is "us"? I think the council is doing just fine as they get the city started.

  5. If the council is doing just fine then we would not have a Blue ribbon committee. Is it Canyon lake or Lake Elsinore that the people are recalling the mayor? Hint...

  6. Sorry to be picky, but the video did not even spell the mayor's name right. Not a good mistake to make if they hoped to get new business from this video.

The mayor did an excellent job. You cannot please everyone obviously.

  7. I asked around about the video. It was done as a favor to the Menifee Chamber and the City at no cost. As being "picky", what have you done to promote the city and it's business community? Let's try to be a little more positive about things.

  8. Big deal that it was done at no cost. I'm sure this person getting something from it like promoting his business.

  9. What's wrong with this guy promoting his business through a video like this one?

At least he didn't charge you $5.00 to see the video.

  10. To the blogger: "As being "picky", what have you done to promote the city and it's business community?"

Oh, am I supposed to defend my sense of community or give you my resume because I point out how funny it was that the guy tries to get free advertising by giving a video that is incorrect (however small)? The POINT was that the mayor did a good job. The IRONY was that the free video of the mayor did not spell the mayor's name right.

Did I help you understand better?

  11. Sounds like somebody's mad they didn't get picked to produce a free video.

  12. I appreciate the video. In todays high tech world I think the meetings should be broadcast via the web for all of us that cannot attend the meetings to see.

  13. I believe the city hired a professional company to video the entire event and it's only $5.00, which is nothing. The video is great!! As I highlight professional company no misspellings and so forth. I really enjoyed it!!

  14. No one cares about being picked for a free video. How many marketing business are their in Menifee? Not many..It's just funny!!!

  15. I clicked on menifeebusiness.com. This Thompson guy apparently has a number of "professional" looking websites like, greenmenifee.com and if you go on thompsonmediagroup.com it seems he has a number of "professional" clients that use his company. I also found his video website, thompsonvideomarketing.com site and I noticed more local video samples. So, I don't understand the big deal who did what and why. Any business trying to help promote our city is a good thing for all of us, whether they got paid or not.

  16. Was the video company that produced the $5.00 video a "LOCAL/Menifee" business?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm no marketing expert, but by putting the Mayor's video on YouTube for the world to know Menifee in a positive way is great "marketing" and for FREE. Did the video company hired by the City think of that?

    ReplyDelete
  18. You folks can find a way to argue over ANYTHING!

    ReplyDelete
  19. The city hired a local business.

    ReplyDelete
  20. New topic please, this is old!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Not totally true. A local company was hired by the city, that company then hired a Lake Elisnore business to video tape the event.

  22. Who cares who hired who! Taping the meetings and/or speeches and posting them on this website is a great community service. As long as it is not costing the tax payers anything then keep it up. This service is provided to all of us free of charge, just like Steve is providing this website to all of us free of charge.
If anyone wants to provide a service to the community I think it should not be an issue if they are allowed to provide the name of their business.
Scratch my back and I'll scratch yours.

  24. I just got a ticket for trying to sell my truck on a side road off Murrieta road. I have been uneployed for 4 months living on unployment checks that don't meet my 1400.00 rent. So I have to sell my belongs to survive and make my rent. An along comes a policeman to give me a $55.00 ticket. Well now I am more in depth. I don't even have food in my freezer. I was trying to feed my family. the city wont help, social services says I make to much on unemployment. Oh by the way all the policeman sit at the circle k smoking cigs and waiting to take advantage of there citizens. Thanks for a Merry Christmas city of Menifee ca.
