Firefighters quickly knocked down a wildfire at the base of Bell Mountain in southeast Menifee this afternoon.

The fire was reported at 12:58 p.m. in the hills south of the 31000 block of Twilight Vista Drive, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Located just southeast of housing tracts, the fire was first reported as two acres of light vegetation on fire. By the time forward progress of the fire was stopped, it had blackened five acres of the hillside north of Garbani Road.

Smoke could be seen from neighboring communities and the 215 Freeway, but no structures were damaged and there were no injuries. Firefighters remained on scene for about three hours.
