McGough named acting superintendent of MUSD

Chad McGough, assistant superintendent of personnel services in the Menifee Union School District, has been named acting superintendent of MUSD.

McCough will serve in that capacity until an interim superintendent is named. He fills the position left by Steve Kennedy, who announced his retirement last week.

"I am honored and humbled to have been selected as acting superintendent by the Governing Board," McGough said. "I look forward to working with them in identifying and selecting our interim superintendent and, ultimately, the next superintendent of MUSD. As the acting superintendent, my job will be to continue to support the Governing Board and the goals they have established as well as our students, staff, and school community.

"I look forward to continuing to build on all the great things already happening in MUSD."

McGough takes over the district's top position at a critical time for MUSD, as it is for all school districts planning to resume school in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. Districts are faced with the decision of how to implement the state's guidelines for re-opening schools. Options include classroom instruction with modifications, hybrid instruction, or total online instruction. MUSD is conducting a survey of families to receive input on the format of the 2020-21 school year.
