Paloma Valley High Athletes of the Week: Dec. 11

Each week, Menifee 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Paloma Valley High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's honorees from Paloma Valley High School:

Junior Lelaina Navarro won a championship at the Lady Trojan War wrestling tournament at Hillcrest High School. She helped lead the girls wrestling team to its first tournament placing ever, a third-place finish. Navarro dominated all her competition, pinning all opponents on her way to her championship. She has already started to garner some interest from women's college programs, said her coach, Luis Robles.

Christian Young had a 17-point game for the boys basketball team at the Beaumont Tournament the first week of the season. "Christian is playng some of the best basketball he has played here at PVHS," said his coach, Michael Pfeiffer.

Sophomore wrestler Cole Acosta started out the season 5-0 and won a championship by fall at the season-opening Warrior Invite at West Torrance. He beat a returning All-CIF athlete to make it to the finals. He also helped the team to a third-place finish at the tournament.
