Tyree Morrow fights to pick up yards after making a catch in Heritage's big victory Friday night.

Heritage High School's football team scored on its first possession and never looked back Friday night, scoring a 50-6 victory at Lakeside High in its league opener.

The Patriots are now 6-0 this season, keeping alive their streak of never having lost a Sunbelt League game.

Sherod White ran for 115 yards and 3 touchdowns for Heritage, which led 43-0 at halftime. With the score 50-0 at the end of the third quarter, a running clock was used for the rest of the game. The loss was Lakeside's first after five victories in nonleague play.

On their second offensive play of the game, Heritage took the lead when quarterback Devan Freedland passed 58 yards to James Phillips for a touchdown. A safety made the score 9-0 before White scored his first touchdown on a 21-yard run. Heritage led 16-0 at the end of the first quarter.

White kept the pressure on the Lancers defense with an 18-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Minutes later, White intercepted a Lakeside pass, giving the ball back to the Patriots. Heritage then scored on a 4-yard pass from Freedland to Tonga Tavake.

Later in the second quarter, White ran for his third touchdown from 1 yard out. That came after a 50-yard pass reception by Tyree Morrow. White came up with another interception, leading to a another Heritage touchdown.

Second-string players entered the game in the third quarter. Brandon Marshall ran 2 yards for a 50-0 lead. Lakeside scored its only touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Heritage piled up 376 rushing yards and 132 passing yards. Next week, the Patriots are at home against Elsinore.
