Menifee residents discovered a new seasonal vendor this weekend, and they're enjoying the taste and variety of Mikusu authentic Hawaiian shave ice treats.
The Mikusu trailer is located on Newport Road just east of the CVS store at Bradley Road, on the site where the strawberry stand operates during the summer. Operated by Eric and Julia Dove of Menifee, the Mikusu stand will operate six days a week through Dec. 31, then return later next year for a six-month run.
Of course, Menifee 24/7 had to stop and sample the menu on Saturday. Shave ice cups come in three sizes and 38 flavors. Customers can also add ice cream and "surf wax" (sweetened condensed milk).
Mikusu Shave Ice is open today until 8 p.m. Regular hours are noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday; noon to 8 p.m. on Friday; 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday. They are closed Sundays.
