Paloma Valley High School officials notified parents by email on Wednesday of a brief investigation into the report of a gun on campus that turned out to be unfounded.

Don Williamson, principal at Paloma Valley, said the "suspicious object" reported turned out to be a cell phone. Police were notified and the situation was resolved quickly, he said. To keep parents fully informed, Williamson sent out an email to parents clarifying the issue.

Paloma Valley High School and Menifee 24/7 continue to receive calls from parents concerned about the report of a gun on campus. Williamson urged parents to read the message carefully and understand that although that was the initial report, it was found not to be true.

Classes are continuing as normal on campus.
