The Boys & Girls Club of Menifee Valley continues to raise funds to prepare for start-up costs. A recent Gala event held at Wilson Creek Winery netted over $8,000.

"The Gala was a very successful event, and we have more planned in the near future. Our kids are worth it, and we know that our community is behind the effort," said Board Chair Sue Kristjansson.

The organization has now raised enough funding to hire staff and begin serving Menifee's families, according to a press release sent out by board members. This summer, there will be children enrolled in the programs that offer activities designed to build social skills, responsibility and character.

There is still much more funding needed to create programs that require supplies and equipment. Board members have been placing donation jars at local businesses and restaurants, hoping to solicit a few more needed dollars to help kick off this summer's programs.

"We thank our local business owners, like Abe Ibrahim at Boston Billie's restaurant (above), who are helping spread the word to their customers, and assisting with collecting funds for Menifee's youth," said Board member Bill Zimmerman. "There is a real community spirit here, and we appreciate all of our volunteers and donors."

Another local supporter is Robbie Motter, who is the Western & Mid Atlantic Regional Coordinator for the National Association of Female Executives. She put together a fun opportunity to raise additional funds for the Boys & Girls Club. More than 50 community members took a bus trip (below) to see a taping of the Dr. Phil show at Paramount Pictures Studio in Hollywood. Guests donated more than $400, and Dr. Phil donated another $400, according to Motter.

Menifee 24/7 has contributed more than $1,000 toward the effort. Those wishing to donate should visit the club's website.

  1. It is unfortunate that the City of Menifee does not support the Boys & Girls Club of Menifee.
