Boy Suffers Serious Wound to Mouth in Pit Bull Attack

A 2-year-old female pit bull was surrendered to Riverside County Animal Services for humane euthanasia Saturday after it bit an 11-year-old boy in the mouth, causing a severe wound.

The incident took place in Winchester about 4 p.m. Saturday inside a house on Stuber Street, according to a new release from county animal services. The boy suffered the bite when the dog lunged at him, authorities said.

The boy and other children were inside a den when the bite happened. The dog had lunged once, but a cue stick was used to block the first attempt.

The incident was believed to be an unprovoked attack.
