Longtime Sun City residents tell us this vacant lot at the corner of Bradley Road and Cherry Hills Blvd. was the site of the Kings Inn, built in the early 1960s by developer Del Webb as the planned senior community began to take shape. We're told it was quite the gathering place for residents and served a great chicken dinner in its restaurant before a fire in the 1970s destroyed much of the structures.

  1. Many years ago I was told that the King's Inn was relocated, not destroyed. The original buildings, I'm told, sit on the other side of the I15, on Ethanac. It is still a motel, but is no longer King's Inn.

I can't guarantee this is correct, but my friend who told me this story actually watched the building get moved in the late 70's or early 80's.

It's certainly worth checking into, huh?

    1. If I had some "boots" I would walk on over there and check it out

    2. The office and two remaining units were moved over to Encanto Drive and a motel was added on to these remaining parts of the old Kings Inn
