Carmelita Rood Receives Achievement Award from Chamber

Carmelita Rood, who has devoted the last 35 years of her life to community service in Menifee, was presented with a special achievement award Thursday by the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber CEO Dorothy Wolons presented the plaque to Carmelita in her room at the Country Villa Murrieta Health Center, where she is battling cancer. Presented in recognition of Carmelita's many years of faithful service to the Chamber of Commerce, the plaque includes photos of her in the various roles she performed in the organization.

More than 20 community leaders and friends of Carmelita attended the presentation, crowding into her small room in the facility. On the door is a sign notifying visitors to be aware of the crowds that might gather and to prepare to wait their turn.

Yes, she's that popular. Congratulations and thank you, Carmelita.
