The City of Menifee and the Menifee United Way have agreed to a partnership to host the City's first-ever half marathon and 5-kilometer run on Sunday, May 20.

The 13.1-mile half marathon course will begin and end at the Menifee Valley Campus of Mt. San Jacinto College. Participants will run mostly along Antelope, Garbani, Briggs and Holland roads. Runners will see three different sides of Bell Mountain along the way.

Electronic signs will be posted along Antelope Road and Menifee Road to alert motorists of the road closure times for Sunday. Antelope Road will be closed from La Piedra to Scott Road and Menifee Road will be closed at Garbani Road (north and southbound) from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Alternate routes using I-215 north and south at Scott Road and Newport Road are suggested and encouraged. The Menifee United Way has been circulating fliers to affected neighborhoods and businesses with a contact phone number (951-929-9691) to obtain more information.

Businesses wanting to set up vendor booths at the event can fill out an application here.

The Menifee United Way is a division of the Central Valley United Way based in Hemet. Vice President Connie Hall said that group's experience in hosting the Tinsel Triathlon every December for the past 26 years should bode well for the new event in Menifee.

Registration is on-going and will be taken on the day of the event. Fees for half-marathoners are $85 and five-kilometer runners will pay $35. For more information, visit www.menifeehalf.com or contact the United Way of Menifee at 951-929-9691).
