With the holidays upon us and the economy in turmoil, many Menifee residents find it difficult this time of the year to supply the basics for their families. I encourage Menifee residents who are able, to donate what they can to the Menifee Valley Community Cupboard, a non profit organization.
The Cupboard is operated by volunteers who also collect donations of food from markets, organizations and individuals for redistribution to those in need.
The Menifee Valley Community Cupboard accepts tax deductible donations of money which is used to purchase stocks of food items and to operate it's distribution facility.

Donations of commercially packaged, unspoiled foodstuffs are always welcome either at the Menifee Valley Community Cupboard or at any of the "donation barrels" located at various locations throughout the communities served or at special temporary collection sites established by the Menifee Valley Community Cupboard at community events.

Donations of money are equally important in order to keep the Menifee Valley Community Cupboard in operation to augment its donated food supplies.

If you and your family are able to assist the Menifee Valley Cupboard, please visit http://www.mvcupboard.org

  3. Menifee Community Cupboard still needs toys for babies and teenagers. They have toys for kids in between those ages.

  4. I just called, they are at capacity for volunteers but still need plenty of donations. She said they always run out of peanut butter, cereal, and top ramen!

  5. Yes, it would be good to know what the established guidelines for income and resources are!

  6. What's the worry about incomes and guidelines? Do you call every moneyraiser and ask the same questions? If not, don't start here. Worse than the recipients, challenge the admin costs of the BIG money raisers out there. If it concerns you so much, keep your time and money. No, I'm not involved in the admin of this one, I just question some hearts always ready to ask "Well before I give...PROVE how badly you need it". Really, if we just try to focus on the hearts of the hurting ones dreading this season for lack of necessities. All one has to do is volunteer at the schools and see the kids faces when they don't have a treat for recess and have to watch the others eat. Come on folks, what's a dollar or two to give a smile to another? You tip more at a restaurant and think nothing of it than what it takes if we all combine our time and money to help a family.

  8. Maybe they want the guidelines because they are the ones in need. Or maybe they know someone who is in need and would like this information to tell them.

  9. Thank you for "maybe they want the guidelines for someone in need"; I needed that to jolt me away from thinking someone is just critical! When it comes to hurting people, my heart cries and I lose my good senses sometimes. This is a great organization and I pray they receive an abundance of all they need!

  10. I want to thank all those who have reached out and helped families hurt by the current economic blight. I also want to admonish those landlords that have taken this time to evict seniors and children. In my neighborhood we had evictions handed to several families by greedy rental lords. They are moving Section 8 families in and hiking up the price higher than market values. So if people do not have a yearly lease, they will probably get 30 day notices. Fear is dictating people behavior unlong with greed and deceit. City oouncil we are looking for your imput on this matter

  11. There must be more to the "story" of evicting tenants than "greed".

Are you suggesting that the tenants did not breach the rental agreement in any way?

Or are you suggesting that the tenants should get a "free pass" for breaching thier obligations under that rental agreement?
