The Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce would like to give your unwanted bicycles a new life and put a smile on a child's face. Working with the Chino Institute for Women, the Chamber is collecting gently-used bicycles to be refurbished and given to underprivileged children at Christmas. Santa's Workshop distributes these bicycles with the help of the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Menifee Community Cupboard, and Riverside County Fire Departments Spark of Love program.

Bicycles will be collected until September 30, 2008.

You may take your bike donations to the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce (27070 Sun City Boulevard, Sun City), the Quail Valley Fire Station (28971 Goetz Road, Quail Valley), or call 951-541-8042 for pick-up or information.

  1. Those bikes should be taken to the dump or recycling center. Bikes are dangerous in the hands of a child! Isn't that what was posted here just a few days ago? What are you thinking??!! ...and besides, there are "no children" that go out and play.

You people make me want to throw up.

  2. This is a great idea! My kids loved their trikes and their bikes but they outgrow them so fast they are hardly scratched. Of course, as a responsible parent, my kids will not be hanging out in shopping malls with no helmets and disrespectful attitudes. I wish the best for all the kids that get these bikes. Go Menifee! We need more positive community activities like this!

  3. To the commenter who "makes me want to throw up": Goodness sakes, SUCH WRATH spewing out of you for something simple like this! Please stay off the roads, you're a rage waiting to happen at the site of a bike! I see we have our very own scrooge early this year! Its a worthy cause and I commend the ones involved. Christmas is all about giving and rejoicing in seeing others enjoy; especially the kids. So scrooge, stay indoors and throw up all you want; how vile of you! I knew a man back east who has gone to police auctions, etc for years, purchasing bikes for underpriveleged youth; how rewarding for him. YOU could use a good dose of a decency pill; though I doubt it would warm your unfeeling heart. Now, go under a rock and sulk......
