Red Robin MenifeeThe Red Robin restaurant in the Countryside Marketplace, opened for the first time today, as a soft-opening, serving only invited guests. The soft opening continues through Sunday, with the grand opening on Monday.

The company sent invitations out to various folks in Menifee. I'm not sure how they chose whom to send invitations to, but mine was addressed to my corporate name "Clear Digital Media".

The place was pretty packed in. Looking at the kitchen area, they must have had 15-20 people working back there. The restaurant has 60 servers hired, broken out into 14 teams, including a bevy of trainers.

As part of the soft opening, food was free. The purpose of the invitations was to give their staff five days of live training. In exchange, customers were advised that there could be delays while trainers gave out instructions, along with the expected mistakes and glitches. But I found that our service went along just fine. And the food was pretty much on par with what I've found at the Red Robin in Temecula. And you still get the bottomless-fries.

Here's some photos...

  10. I hope the Menifee restaurant is not set up the same way Hemet is. It is so loud and the tables are so close to together we won't be going back over there. I like to go and eat any enjoy the meal not wishing I could hurry up and get out of there

  11. Great pictures Steve; as usual, you are a good reporter. Agree, Red Robins are usually very noisy, but are a good place for family outings; kids love it!

  12. I recently heard that we're no longer getting a BJ's restaurant. True? Or maybe its old news and I missed it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Rumor has it that Michaels is going in where Linnens and Things was supposed to be. Does anyone know if there is any truth in this?

  14. Drove through the center tonight and noted the following signs on doors.
Super Target Opening - October 12
Best Buy - Opening October 4

  15. Country Side...........
I saw a sign in one of the store front windows saying 'coming soon". "THE BREAKFAST CLUB". I assume that is a place to have breakfast. Has anyone anyone heard or know about this place?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Just had lunch with my family at The Red Robin. Nicest, most friendly upbeat staff I've ever experienced. So nice to have more choices here in Menifee !

    ReplyDelete
  17. Has Red Robin opened? Or is still invitation only?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I am excited to see all of these new stores and new resturants come in but can someone tell me why we had to get the ugliest mall in the world? It looks like we are country hicks! What happened to stucco and palm trees for that So. California look? And, whats up with those silly looking trellis'? Who designed this? I guess they will be playing hoe-down music throughout to give it a real country bumpkin look.

  19. Beauty really is in eye of the beholder because I think the shopping center is great looking. The outside fireplace with all the chairs in a circle is great. Yeah, it would be out of place in Newport beach, but this is Menifee.
    Keep it positive.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm with you = keep it positive. I think it is great too. The water feature is really nice and the fire pit is neat! I think it fits right in here. And when we walked around to check it out, there was no country bumpkin music-it was mainstream music we've all heard on the radio. Appreciate what we have! I'm excited to have places to shop and go out to eat here locally. And just in time for the holidays too!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sorry, I still say it is not very attractive and Menifee is just as pretty and classy as Newport Beach is. We deserve to keep everything coming into our city looking very elegant with a touch of class.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes, I agree. It is going to be nice not having to drive to Murrieta or Temecula for these stores, but the look of this mall doesn't fit in with the houses and other business's in Menifee. It looks very out of place.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love the look of our mall! It stands out, more than the other malls that always look the same. This is going to be a great addition to our new city!

    ReplyDelete
  24. HA HA HA looks at of place...Hello?? Have you looked around the area?? Before all these houses there was nothing but farms and open fields with sheeps. I love the look of the new shopping center, maybe because I've lived out here since 89 & I knew how the area looked. Just keep it positive and if you wanted the same old SoCal palm tree look then go live or shop somewhere else. We finally have our own place to go & shop so again stay postive people!

    ReplyDelete
  25. My first impression of the "look" at our mall was that it was not attractive. HOWEVER, once I actually drove thru it and experienced it, I absolutely LOVE IT!! It is AWESOME!!. To those who don't like it, take the time to drove thru it and experience it.

  26. Who's the idiot that needs glasses and thinks Menifee is as classy as Newport Beach? Ya, both cities are unique in their locations, but would you rather have beach front property, looking over the Pacific Ocean, or looking at all the roof tops and dirt you see here in Menifee? I know, a lot of you would take Menifee over Newport Beach (if cost wasn't a factor), but the way I look at it, were a rural, semi-desert area, and Newport Beach is a coastal community.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Comparing Newport Beach to Menifee is absurd. I've now lived in both. I'll take Menifee anyday, although the weather in Newport Beach is cooler. However, if you have lived in both you would have to agree that living in Menifee is better. Newport Beach is filled with snooty people that think their s$%t doesn't stink. You couldn't pay me to live in Newport Beach and deal with all those jerks again.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Seems like I started something. I posted the original comment stating this is Menifee, not Newport Beach. Menifee is slow-paced, quiet, nice place to live. Newport Beach is fast-paced,
with lots to do and also a nice place to live. It just depends on your point of view. No need to bash Newport Beach people. It makes you look jealous.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Believe me, there is no jealousy here as I would not live in Newport Beach again. I've lived in some pretty expensive neighborhoods in the past and all they do is give you a false sense of security and you have to watch your back because everyone is out to get each other. When I lived in New York it was the same thing. In order to really enjoy life you must get away from the big cities and the rat race fast paced lifestyle. Menifee is a much more enjoyable place to raise my kids.

  30. I think Kohls is open.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I heard that Mervyn's is going into the former Target store; anyone know for certain?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Mervyn's in bankrupt. Why would they open a new store?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Finaly people from Sun City can leave us alone from Murrieta and Temecula

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thats one reason i wish they didnt open this shopping center. It just invites those rascals from Sun City and RomoHomolands to bug us. Maybe the uppity class people can shop here and bring in some revenue for the city.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Cant wait until the old Target is empty and the whole shopping center goes down the toilet. Looks like the Manager Mr. Boomer is about to cry in the picture. Probably the money in gas its costing him to drive from Coranado. Or maybe he just passed gas when the picture was taken.

    *Newport*

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think the shopping center looks good. I don't know what people are complaining about. Now we don't have to waste gas driving to Murrieta or Temecula. I only wish we had a bookstore in the shopping center.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I heard the old Target will be split in half. So one half will be the new 24 Hour Fitness but I'm not sure about the other half.

It would be nice to have a movie theater out here.

  38. Today is there official opening to the public.

My family and I ate at Red Robin this afternoon. We had a great time. The food and service was great. You can not go wrong with Bottomless fries. It is nice to finally have a restaurant in Menifee. 9 months ago it was a dirt field, not it is a great shopping center.

    ReplyDelete
  39. What in the world is the problem with 'Newport" and his having to talk ugly about the manager's picture?? And to criticize he lives in Coronado?? Are you threatened or just plain jealous??You sound like a cantankerous ole goat and just sound really dumb; crawl back under your rock; you foul up the air.

  40. I agree, why are there so many negative comments? Gee Whiz. To September 28, 2008 9:53 PM commenter,it seems you have lived many places and have been uphappy with most, hmmm. Can't everyone be a more thoughtful. Just pretend you've added your name to the post and your family and neighbors will read it.

  41. I love the market place, I think it is cute. I love Menifee and I am one of those people from orange county originally. I think most of the comments seem really positive. Does anybody know what The Breakfast Club is?
    See ya around neighbors!

  42. Does anyone know for sure what kind of chinese restaurant is coming in? Will it be fast food or a real, sit down type? Wish we had a PF Changs!

    ReplyDelete
  43. It's a Panda Express, on the restaurant side. Sign is up.

I went to the Kohl's Sunday when it opened and was disappointed. It's smaller than Murrieta's and doesn't have as big of a selection. I was so excited to have one close. Hopefully SuperTarget exceeds expectations...

  44. All Kohl's are the exact same size.

  45. The new mall is gorgeous !!! All the other malls look so much alike. Our Menifee mall is beautifully designed and a big thank you to whoever came up with the look. It is makes all the others look exceedingly plain and ordinary. The country style is charming and inviting. I can't wait until everything is open, so that I can support our new city and spend my money here.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I agree, its fabulous.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I agree with everyone who likes the theme of the new shopping center. The farm look is so Menifee and so unusual. If you look at Temecula you will see the mall there looks like every mall everywhere. They had the chance to be unique and go with the wild west theme they have in old town, but they blew it and did generic. The new shopping down in Corona is boring as well, I have seen that outdoor mall thing all over the country------same old, same old. We have a very nice, uniquely designed shopping center and people complain. You want ugly and generic, go shop at the stores by Ralphs Market. My days shopping in our new, perfectly themed center will be less crowded with you shopping somewhere else !

  48. Who wants a barnyard, tractor painted, rooster shopping plaza? Menifee has a center with a couple retail stores and restaurants. But, really, this center is the most hick, farmer, ugly center in Riverside County. Forget comparing it to Newport, Menifee will never be Newport Beach, Period! They could have at least tried to make the "new city" something from this decade. What a waste and a way to keep Menifee a farm town! Also, good way to keep the housing market in decline!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Wow! Is the last poster 8 years-old? The shopping center is great! If the last poster is that sad about the look, then why did he/she move here in the first place. I think the look is very unique (has a farm/modern look to it). Has a great appeal and should help Menifee become a great city. I don't want Menifee to ever be a Newport Beach. Can't wait until all the stores open. Very proud to have Countryside Marketplace finally open. Go Menifee!

  50. Hi, We went to Red robin this evening. When we inquired about "Happy Hour" we were rudely told told, "this is a family restaurant, we don't have it, and will not." We are not big drinkers but they clearly gave us the impression this was not the place for adults without a family. Oh well, I guess we are the minority. At least that is the way they made us feel.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I've never seen a Red Robin with a happy hour, just as an FYI. But if you want happy hour, go to Bob's Pitstop, or the Ponderosa.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Neighbors were telling us yesterday they had just gone to Red Robin and it was so noisy they couldn't carry on a conversation. BUT they too, like many of us, are just a couple with no children. I probably won't go because of the noise, BUT am glad there is a family-oriented restaurant for kids too! Let the families go and enjoy their little ones, too soon will be the day when, like ours, they're left living the empty nest and really do miss the "loud and happy" times when the kids were growing up! Red Robin is to be admired for keeping it a kid-friendly place for families! Thought: I do hope they have a fun, rewarding 'something' for kids birthdays and special occasions! WELCOME RED ROBIN!

    ReplyDelete
  53. We went to Red Robin over the weekend. It was so noisy that we could hardly hear each other talk. I don't think it matters if it's a family restaurant or not. The acoutics in there are horrible. Too bad something can't be done about it because they do have good food & service!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Any new news on The Breakfast Club? What it actually is, opening dates, etc..

    ReplyDelete
  55. Red Robin is noisy, yes, but still a good family standard.
the place has been busy every time we have gone by. There is a young lady named Holly who greeted us on both of our visits. If everyone of their employees were as friendly & knoledgable as that young lady.....the place would be golden. Noisy or not, Red Robin is a great addition to our little community.

  56. I keep going by The Breakfast Club in hopes that some construction is going on... opening date, etc..
I saw they have a menu up, any more info to contribute. I would really be interested to find out more because I would be interested in employment opportunities. Please let me know.
