Valley Health System (VHS) caregivers, who are members of SEIU United Healthcare Workers - West (UHW), announced they voted overwhelmingly last week to endorse Measure G on the November 6th ballot.

A formal announcement of their support is scheduled for Thursday, October 11th, 12:00pm, at the steps of City of Hemet's Public Library, 300 E. Latham Avenue.

UHW is the largest union of VHS employees, representing more than 1,000 members at Hemet Valley Medical Center, Menifee Valley Medical Center and Moreno Valley Community Hospital.

This endorsement of Measure G by the UHW is probably without surprise. If Measure G were to fail, there would be no money to pay these workers.

  1. NO vote for Measure G. In Hemet Valley Medical Center is very poor service because they are not provide to pay the interpreter for hearing impaired people need to talk with doctor for effective equal access communication and medical issue purposes. Health Insurance fail to tell all doctors to pay the interpreter under Americans with Disabilities Act.

  2. As for the SEIU support on Measure G. They do not speak for the majority of the nurses at Hemet Hospital. Most of the Nurses that I have spoken too say NO to Measure G. Diana RN

  3. I am against Measure G. This measure would privatize the health system giving Dr. Kali P. Chaudhuri the right to refuse service to anyone due to their inability to pay. It is appalling and callous!! If that is the case, then there is no point in having hospitals. If this measure passes I would hate to find myself being denied emergency service because I come form a working class background. Measure G is nothing more than MONOPOLY. My question is where the GOVERNMENT!? Why isn’t the government doing anything to save these hospitals? The communities need them. This measure is not right and unfair. I have spoken to several employees of the Hemet Valley Med Center as well and they are against this Measure. The government needs to step up and do what is right for the people of its communities.

  4. Norma, your fears are unfounded.

No hospital can turn anyone away due to inability to pay. It's illegal.

Every physician in the USA has sworn to an oath to provide care to anyone without discrimination.

Privatization has proven time and time again that it works. Just look at Inland Valley Medical Center, and its parent company Southwest Healthcare System. It works.

We've already seen proof that community owned hospitals like Hemet Valley and Menifee Valley don't work. That's why we're talking right now, because they don't work.

  5. Diane,
I have gotten the opposite response that you have received. Most people that I ask are voting yes for the measure. I have spoke to several people in both Menifee and Hemet hospital. I also belong to SEIU and my vote will be to vote yes
