Verizon announced today that it will be bringing it's FIOS Television service to unincorporated areas of Riverside County.

The service will become available to more than 41,000 households in unincorporated areas. FIOS Television is already available in Murrieta, Temecula, Lake Elsinore, and Perris.

FIOS TV is a new competitor to cable and satellite television. It's basically another cable television provider, delivered on 100% fiber-optic cable, and delivered exclusively by Verizon. Verizon touts the advantages of FIOS TV as providing "room-shaking" sound and crystal clear digital pictures. FIOS TV also offers several high-definition channels.

It also offers all the same channels available through cable and satellite providers.

  1. Our community across from Menifee Valley Med Center was prewired with FiOS. My internet experience with FiOS service is quite good.

I believe DirctTV is cheaper than FiOS for TV.

  5. I enjoy FIOS TV. I had Dish Network and I liked that, but I do not regret switching over to fiber optic.

I don't think FIOS has as many HD channel choices as DirecTV though.

  6. I forgot to answer your question about reception and service... Both have been good. I've only been interrupted twice for a software update to the DVR and when my router crapped itself, technical service was able to get me a replacement within a few days.

  7. Hi Millie: We, along with our neighbors, changed from Direct to FIOS several months ago and are happy we did. We're in Menifee Lakes and its been available for eight or 10 months; al-though I do understand its not available in some areas. If you get the whole package (Telephone, Internet and TV) its about $20 a month less than Direct. My husband says he's not as happy as he was with Direct, but for the money it redeems itself.
