I would like to thank those of you who responded to my post and clarifying how the Women's Club came to run the snack bar. We have talked to the Women's Club about running the snack bar and giving them a portion of the funds received. No luck. Our problem is, the Women's Club is not consistantly open during our games.
I will be contacting Valley Wide to see if we can put a portable snack bar some where on the facility during our season's Saturday Games.
We don't need any fundraising ideas, just a snack bar that is open during our game times.

  1. Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes to me!! You guys just need to get over it or find another park to play at!!!

  2. Lyman is correct.....SHAME ON THE WOMEN'S CLUB for volunteering hundreds of hours yearly in their Snack Bar, even when it's not Little League Season. SHAME ON THEM for donating ALL of their earnings to the Community of Menifee Valley instead of using it to benefit their own Organization. SHAME ON THEM for putting in hours and hours of time to bring some of the BEST events here in the Valley (to all kids, not just baseball players) such as the Annual Independence Day Celebration, in which over 3000 people attended to watch FREE OF COST a fantastic Firework Display. SHAME ON THEM for volunteering even into their Golden Years of life when they could be sitting in a rocking chair! SHAME ON THEM for making a REAL difference by also donating monies to ANY organization in need.
It's just so sad that a few spoiled individuals WANT IT ALL and can't look at the BIGGER PICTURE.
Remember that Organized Sports Leagues get hundreds of volunteers every season when NEW parents sign their kids up to play. Many of us have done our share of Sports Team Volunteer hours. For most Leagues it is expected.

I think we are lucky to have women like the ones in the Lake Menifee Women's Club who make our community wonderful for ALL of us !!

I'm not sure what this statement means in context with what Holly was asking for. She wasn't asking to have the snack bar all to herself.

Bottom line is that we all live in Menifee, and this is about the kids. Too bad there can't be a solution on this.

  4. Yes Steve, it is ALL about the Kids. Holly is not interested in any fundraising ideas (her quote)she just wants a Snack Bar open for every game, and that is just not going to happen.
The bottom line is that the Women's Club has FULL concession rights because they have EARNED it. It's amazing that according to Holly we are NEVER open and yet the Women's CLub is still able to put on all the yearly events and make monetary donations to many. Are the Little Leaguer's going without?? Are they not able to have fun and play because their league doesn't have a slice of the Snack Bar pie?? I don't think so. Do the parents have to do more fundraising??? YES, of course.
    It IS what it IS......
You people need to stop complaining about things you cannot change.

  5. If the woman's club was really interested in raising money for community events and donating money to community programs, they would not squander away the opportunity they have and are wasting.

  6. The snack bar at Wheat Field would be open more often if Valley Wide management would let us know when games are scheduled.

  7. It is amazing to me the comments on the snack bar. People get so defensive when others point out things that could be fixed. I said that it is inconsistant on when it is open. We at the Little League do not need fundraising ideas because we do one every year. Go to any other baseball field and you will see a running snack bar. We pay a large fee to play at Wheatfield every year. We should have snack bar rights. We are raising funds to buy our own land for our own baseball fields, we would play some where else if there was some where else to play. There is 3 Different Leagues playing there that I know of, Little League, Pony League and ASA Girls softball, we all pay to play there, we all should get snack bar rights.
Thanks for the invite to join the Womens club, but I am already a PTA Board Member and a Little League Board Member, maybe when my kids grow up.

  8. Holly,
Since you are a LL Board Member, you should go to the TOP and contact Mr Sam Geopp of Valley Wide Rec of Inland Valley. I'm sure Mr Geopp would be able to give you some help.

  9. HOLLY,
MY DAUGHTER PLAYED GIRLS SOFTBALL AND MY SON PLAYED FOOTBALL AT WHEATFIELD PARK. I JOINED THE WOMEN'S CLUB SO THAT I COULD HELP OUT AT THE SNACK BAR DURING THEIR PRACTICES AND IN BETWEEN GAMES. THIS IS A GREAT IDEA FOR ALL THOSE MOM'S WHO ARE AT THE PARK. IF WE COULD GET ENOUGH VOLUNTEERS FROM OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TO JOIN THE WOMEN'S CLUB, I'M SURE WE WOULD BE ABLE TO BE OPEN ALL THE TIME. PLEASE ENCOURAGE THOSE MOM'S.

  10. I ORIGINALLY EMAILED STEVE:

    Hello,

There is an ordinance being proposed by a Veterinarian in Riverside County. He has written this ordinance and feels it is a good bit of legislation for both dog owners and the county, which run the shelters. I could write up a little something if you wouldn't mind posting what I write??? We need to have less backyard breeders so there are less strays running around the county. Everyday I see dogs running down Murrieta road on my way to work and most times they end up dead on the side of the roads.

    THEN STEVE EMAILS ME BACK:

    I'm interested.

    Steve

SO I EMAIL BACK TO HIM:

Coming up before the first of the year will be a very important vote conducted by the Board of Supervisors for Riverside County.

A Veterinarian has proposed legislation that will save the lives of countless animals and save the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. What could be better for a pet lover? We could really make a difference if this ordinance was supported.
The Veterinarian that wrote this ordinance was kind enough to spend time talking to me and answering my questions. He also sees this ordinance as giving those who work in the shelter system, a light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

The ordinance would be effective for all unincorporated areas (Menifee) in Riverside County. The ordinance would make it mandatory for all dogs and cats to be spayed or neutered and to be micro chipped.

I can personally tell you that a trip to the local shelter is not what it used to be. They are terribly overcrowded with unwanted pets. In Menifee alone there are breeders who are not licensed and many who produce overwhelming numbers of unwanted dogs and cats. They sell these puppies/kittens through ads in the local paper often times for large sums money. You will even see ads for "cash only" transactions. A litter of 10 pups can sell for $1,000 each. This money is tax free and unable to be accounted for. Yet, the shelters are overcrowded and under funded. The cost to run these shelters is astronomical. Not one penny of these illegal puppy/kitten sales EVER goes towards the shelters that fill up with these very animals.

Do you ever stop to think about the hundreds of animals a day that must be euthanized because they are unwanted? Do you ever stop to think about the person whose occupation it is to do just that? Often times a shelter worker will put down 30-40 animals a day. What a difficult job, yet someone has to do it. These workers inevitably suffer deeply after just a short time on the job. They are often young and longevity on the job is not common.

It is possible to end the suffering of so many dogs and cats, and to free up vast amounts of taxpayer’s dollars.

Please email me if you would like more information:

I DO NOT HEAR FROM HIM SO I EMAIL AGAIN:

    Hello Steve,

Did you decide not to print this?

I EMAIL AGAIN AFTER NO RESPONSE:

    Steve,

I have not heard from you and have sent you an email twice in ref. to the Spay/Neuter Ordinance. The comments are being posted about the snack bar, maybe my post will change the subject.

Is there something that you object to that I had written?

WE HAVE AN EXCHANGE, AND THEN AFTER I AM OBVIOULSY DISSAPOINTED I GET SENT THIS:

Sorry to hear you're disappointed. But yes, I happen to be the publisher of this, and I call the shots. I thought you already knew that.

    Steve

SO I GUESS IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING THAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU...YOU'D BETTER HOPE STEVE THINKS IT IS IMPORTANT TO!!

I WAS REALLY JUST HOPING TO INTRODUCE A NEW TOPIC BESIDES THE SNACK BAR.

  11. I as well think your comments about the "Animal Shelters" deserved a posting and am not sure what happened as to why you were not given a separate Post. It seems silly to read your comments under the heading of "Snack Bar at Wheatfield" !!!!

  12. Katie left out an important part of my response. I explained that I would publish her article but not until December. This is because her article said that the Supervisors would not be considering this measure until the first of next year.

Whether or not anyone agrees with my decision making is up for debate. But like Katie pointed out to you, I'm the publisher of this website, I make those decisions, and I take full responsibility of everything that published here.

  13. "I plan on posting it. I'm looking at the "news" quality of it..."

In all fairness to Steve, he did say just exactly that, that he would be posting it. It is just that the vote comes up before the first of the year, which means at any time it get calendared by the county.

  14. i dont know much about what is going on. so i am unbiased. but it seems like the park needs the concession stand to be open longer for certain schedules. and the volunteers are to be commended for their work, but there is an operational issue that should be addressed. i think the women's club should find some way to make this work because it seems like there is certainly a demand for the concession stand to be open and we do live in a democratic capitalist country. worst case scenario is someone else operating the concession stand. here's something temecula is doing for their sports park:

  15. By all means, let's not complain about the snack bar's limited hours. As the one absurd post suggests, no one could possibly address the issue and it cannot possibly change, so let's just stop the dialogue. We should just accept the status quo because the women do volunteer enough already and we should be grateful that it's ever open.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Why would anyone accept the status quo, there is always room for improvement if the desire is there.

  17. Holly, I have been an active and inactive memeber of the womens club. So, I understand the difficulties of the staffing of the snack bar as we all used to take turns to try to get people to hold open the snack bar with the schedules we were given by Valley Wide.

I will throw this suggestion out again - The last time I read the bylaws (yes it has been a while so I may be misquoting but I am sure I am not too far off here) The Menifee Lakes Womens Club is open to any and all women who have an interest in this community.

These posts have made it so apparent that there is more than an interest in our community but a very large need. Since the snack bar is procured and managed by the volunteers of this The Menifee Lakes Womens Club - the idea has come to my mind that we should then look at joining this group and make a positive change that works out for those people who apparently have strong opinions of the running of the snack bar.

I think we need to look at the larger picture. If the real problem is that the snack bar is not open when needed, then let's all challange each other to join (or rejoin in some of our cases) the club. Then once we have paid the nominal fee to join let's challange each other to work ONE SHIFT A MONTH.

I, for one, have not worked in the snack bar for years. My kids are busy with sports and as you know I work full time as well. However, in order to make this work FOR THE KIDS AND THE FAMILIES I am willing to to accept a challange of working one shift a month so hopefully your games and others are covered.

Anybody else out there up for the challange? I mean, that really is what we are talking about isnt it? For the snack bar being opened for convience more often??

So, Holly and the other busy moms (and Holly, from what I remember of you - you are VERY charasmatic and should have no problem finding a few more women to join with you!) the answer may be to all join and have a say and an active roll in the running of the snack bar.

The comments regarding that the possibility of the snack bar not being staffed appropriate are only good comments IF we can back our comments by a commitment.

    Anybody up for the challange?

    Vicki Nardone

  18. I do invite all you complaining moms to join the lake menifee womens club and put your negative energy into a positive one for the whole community.

    Thank you

    ReplyDelete
  19. Is this organization limited to women? How about branching out and letting male volunteers staff the snack bar. I'm sure there are some complaining men out there too.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I agree with Holly, we are now towards the end of our spring season of baseball and the snack bar is still only open occasionally. I hear complaints often from all parents who are volunteering their time to coach and be there for their children. The womens club should give us their schedule so when they can't cover games, someone else can, be it Pony League, Little League or ASA. I am about to break out my wagon and start selling snack out of it, so look for me!!!
