Plans are underway for the resurfacing of a stretch of Menifee Road from Holland Road north past Newport Road to Fire Station 76.

Menifee City Council this week approved an expenditure of $94,901 for design services of the project, which will be welcomed by residents who complain about cracks and potholes in the pavement -- especially in the outside northbound lane near Wheatfield Park. KOA Corporation was awarded the project.

The project includes installation of a raised median on a 600-foot section of Menifee Road from Newport Road north to the fire station access. Menifee Police Department officers have been proactive in ticketing for illegal left turns from southbound Menifee Road into the ARCO gas station driveway. A raised median will eliminate that issue.

The project will also include upgrades of existing ADA ramps, analysis of a pedestrian crosswalk, and re-striping of the roadway to include dedicated bicycle lanes. Cost of the project will be covered by Measure DD funds.

  1. Can you resurface Antelope from La Piedra to Newport? That thing is a mess.

  2. Another raised median? Menifee really loves raised medians. They have one on Antelope now. Menifee is the city of no U turns and medians

  3. Couple issues come to mind with this project: 1) It’s been awarded to a contractor, but I didn’t see a schedule or a phasing start/stop plan mentioned, 2) is the scope going to happen the same time as the Holland overpass project?, 3) has a traffic plan been submitted yet? And will there be traffic officers directing traffic at peak traffic hours? This is going to impact Callie Kirkpatrick, Bell Mountain Middle School, Wheat field recreation activities i.e., little League, ASA Softball, AYSO Soccer etc. comings & goings. Actually, I’m slightly disappointed in the planning commission and City Planner, as it appears that in a rush to gain tax revenues for the city they are making some poor decisions in the layout of many paths of engress/egress into several of the storefront developments.
