Sydney Woodley scored 21 points, Mya Pierfax scored 19 and Christianna Hawkins had 11 tonight to lead the Paloma Valley High School girls basketball team to a 61-45 victory at Westlake High in the CIF Division 2A semifinals.

The win puts the Wildcats into the CIF Southern Section championship game for the second straight season. Paloma Valley (12-3) will be at home on Thursday at 7 p.m. to play Eisenhower, which will bring a 10-1 record into the championship game. Eisenhower beat Sonora 78-66 tonight.

Last year, the Wildcats won the CIF Division 4AA title, 64-47 over Ontario Christian. Paloma Valley won the Southern Regionals as well and was set to travel to Sacramento for the state championship game March 13 before the game was cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Despite a shortened season this year because of the pandemic, there will be a Southern Regional tournament following the CIF-SS finals. Those first-round matchups will take place on June 15.
