A Menifee man had to be helped out of his overturned truck but avoided injury Thursday in a two-vehicle collision on Antelope Road.
The accident happened about 6 p.m. at the intersection of Antelope Road and Aspenwood Way, one block south of Holland Road. Beni Tovar, 52, said he was driving a Chevy Silverado truck northbound on Antelope Road approaching the T intersection with Aspenwood Way when a white pickup truck traveling southbound on Antelope made a U-turn in front of him.
Tovar said that in trying to avoid the white truck and another vehicle, his truck collided with the white truck and flipped on its side, trapping him in the driver's seat against the street.
"When I flipped over in the truck, there was smoke and the truck was still running," Tovar said. "I was scared it would catch on fire. Some guys came and they helped me to get out."
Tovar was the only person in the Chevy Silverado and said he was unhurt except for some minor aches and pains. The driver of the white pickup truck, a young adult white male, said he was not hurt but declined an interview request.
No other details were available Thursday night.
