The pedestrian who was hit by a car while walking along Bradley Road Friday night, Aug. 14 died on Sunday, the County Coroner's office reported today.
Yajaira Gonzales-Mendoza, 17, of Menifee was walking near the intersection of Bradley Road and Lazy Creek Road about 9:30 p.m. Friday when she was struck by a car, according to Corporal Robert Martinez of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. She was transported to a local hospital, where she died Sunday night of her injuries.
Martinez said the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. No arrests have been made.
According to Martinez, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
