Children from Quail Valley and Romoland will display their works of art Friday night in a special reception at the Kay Ceniceros Center.
The event, which will take place from 5-7 p.m., is the culmination of the week-long Children's Art Institute, sponsored by Arts Council Menifee. All this week, children in grades kindergarten through 5 are learning various art techniques through the program, which is being held at Quail Valley Elementary School.
Students are learning about pastels, scratching, watercolor and oil painting. Funded by a block grant, the program provides free instruction for the children, whose works will be displayed for residents to view.
The reception will take place in the meeting room of the Kay Ceniceros Center, which has become the home of an art gallery sponsored by Arts Council Menifee. Works of local artists are displayed on the walls of the room during all events held at the facility.
