The Menifee Police Department announced yesterday they plan to hold a DUI saturation patrol tomorrow Friday July 8, 2011, from 7:00pm to 1:00am, in the city of Menifee.

"Make no mistake. Our message is simple. No matter what you drive—a passenger car, pickup, sport utility vehicle or motorcycle—if we catch you driving impaired, we will arrest you. No exceptions. No excuses," said Sergeant Dan Lingo. "We will be talking to drivers, making sure they are not impaired, arresting those who are, and getting the word out that impaired driving is not acceptable in the city of Menifee."

The Menifee Police Department advises motorists take the following steps...

  • Plan a safe way home before the festivities begin;

  • Before drinking, designate a sober driver and give that person your keys;

  • If you're impaired, use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member, or use public transportation so you are sure to get home safely;

  • If you happen to see a drunk driver on the road, don't hesitate to call 911.

Drunk driving is one of America's deadliest crimes. In California last year 1,029 people died in crashes involving a driver or motorcycle rider with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher.

  1. Yeah, Call 911 so we can be on the 'no call list' at the sheriff's department and get no response, just like speeders in my neighborhood, all I get is 'quit calling', can we just quit selling alcohol, oh no we definitely couldn't do that, what would the police use to 'calm down' from such a hard week when they are out partying and then driving home, or is that just the top dogs in the departments that get away with DUIs.

  3. I love how this says dont hesitate to call 911 about drunk drivers. Just a week ago I called in regards to my neighbor and her friends getting drunk and being loud and they said tehy would send out a patrol car. 45 mins later no one still is there and the visitors next store stumble drunk to their cars and drive away. We then get a phone call asking us if we tried talking to our neighbor. Really? show up when you are called

  4. Next time tell the dispatcher that you MIGHT have heard a gun shot. See how fast they respond then.

  5. I love this "Have you tried talking to your neighbor?",
    Oh sure...I told them I just called the police on you for being drunk and disorderly...that should make for the next 911 phone call of.. neighbor dispute!

  6. Keep doing it, great for the community BUT next time don't give the date, time and place you will do it. I bet you catch more drunks.
