5:00pm - Study Session, open to the public - workers' compensation, liability, and a presentation of the proposed contract of police services by the Riverside County Sheriff.
6:30pm - Closed session
7:00pm - Regular meeting - open to the public.

I missed the August 27th meeting, but I seem to remember discussion from the August 13th meeting about an upcoming meeting being held at Quail Valley Elementary School. I thought that should have been the one scheduled for September 10th. Did something happen at the August 27th meeting to change this?
ReplyDeleteI'm just curious, because I commute and I typically have just enough time to get home and make it to the location. I don't want to find myself showing up at the college only to find out the meeting is actually being held somewhere else.
Also, since the previous meetings were been before the college started fall classes, parking wasn't an issue. With classes in session, will we be expected to pay for parking? I know at least one citizen had this concern with a previous meeting held at the college.
The city manager is now in charge of securing meeting locations, and I think he implied that there was a conflict in dates, and a possible charge to have meetings there.

ReplyDeleteIn reference to the proposed service contract with the sheriff's department, I agree totally with John Denver. Take it from a former law enforcement officer, one can never have too many officers working traffic. One can have too few of them. Not only does the high visibility of a patrol car pulling over a violator have an affect on the other motorist, the revenue from fines collected would add to our city's purse. At present, and surely in the future, the areas of Sun City and Newport Road need traffic enforcement efforts the most. We need to look into the possibility of installing traffic light signals at the Holland & Bradley intersection. With new homes in the area and increased student traffic from Paloma High, this is warranted and should be placed on a fast track for aquisition.
