Temecula Jazz Festival
Last night my family and I had the opportunity of attending the 2nd Annual Temecula Jazz Festival at the Duck pond park on the corner of Rancho California and Ynez. The event was publicized on Jazz radio stations. I even had a friend in LA ask me about it the other day. It was a nice event with many families. Adults and kids off all ages were blessed with the sounds of Jazz and Latin Jazz permeating the air. Many couples were dancing as the children were running around and rolling down the green grassy hill. There is supposed to be a follow up event at the Temecula promenade today, Sunday July 17. It would be nice to bring some live music to Menifee in the years to come. This would bring even more character to our up and comming community.

Has anyone been experiencing broken water pipes and/or windows due to the dynomite in Audie Murphy Ranch? Our neighbohood has had two cases of broken water lines and we are wondering if it could be possible that the cause is the daily dynomite of the Audie Murphy Ranch area.

Did you guys neglect the fact that Christopher Jamison a 19 year old boy from Sun City/Menifee was found unconscious below the Newport Road overpass on Interstate 215 on March 5, and later died at Loma Linda University Medical Center on March 10???????
That might be slightly important to the community. Maybe someone has some kind of information.

Trash in the Menifee Valley is a disgrace. Weeds are everywhere. This area needs cleaning up and some landscaping ASAP!!!!

I agree with you on the trash. I sell real estate, it is embarassing driving people around here.

The traffic on menifee road is terrible between Garboni and Keller. they treat it like it is there personal raceway, it really geats old. I have lived here 15 years and have never had so much dirt in my house, the farmers created less dust, the brick walls ar nice but our section did not get one so the noise just bounces off the wall back to us.

Just a question: when did Menifee become Menifee Valley? We moved here fifteen years ago and we moved to Menifee. My address never changed as far as I know, but now I'm seeing the community referred to as Menifee Valley. I may live in "the Menifee Valley", but the community I live in is MENIFEE.

Can anyone tell me what the late night "booms" I hear are. They sound like emplosions off in the distance. I know Pendleton does mortar drills but arent we far from there and the most recent I heard was at 1:30am. No one seems to concerned with them - but being new to the area - they are a bit creepy when I dont know what they are!

Just wondering if anyone alse sees the problem with illegal immigrants lining up for work on Newport Road between Goetz road and La Ladera road?

Who's idea was it to butcher all the "fan palms" along Antelope Road in early April? It looks ridiculous to me...like a bunch of bare "Q-tips". It will take years for these Mexican Fan Palms to grow back to their natural full look.

Pardee Homes is putting up condos and some homes around the new Countryside Market place Development. I spoke with there purchasing department two days ago, and it seems they are not doing so well. Pardee is not even concrete on if these homes will for sure be built. I would put money on it that they will go up. I have allot of faith in our market and feel that it is going to be great for us again soon.

This is a very good letter to the editor. This woman made some good points. For some reason, people have difficulty structuring their arguments when arguing against supporting the currently proposed immigration revisions. This lady made the argument pretty simple.
It was NOT printed in a California newspaper:
Newspapers simply won't publish letters to the editor which are deemed politically incorrect (read below) or which do not agree with the philosophy the papers are pushing on the public. This woman wrote a great letter to the editor that should have been published; but, with your help it will get published via cyberspace!
New Immigrants
From: "David LaBonte"
My wife, Rosemary, wrote a wonderful letter to the editor of the OC (Orange County, California) R egister which, of course, was not printed. So, I decided to "print" it myself by sending it out on the Internet.
Pass it along if you feel so inclined.
Dave LaBonte (signed)
Written in response to a series of letters to the editor in the Orange County Register:
Dear Editor:
So many letter writers have based their arguements on how this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan, for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren't being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry.
Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented. Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.
They had waved good bye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture.
Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity. Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany , Italy , France, and Japan . None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan . They were defending the United States of America as one people. When we liberated France, no one in those villages were looking for the French-American or the German American or the Irish American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.
And here we are in 2007 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900s deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.
And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty , it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn't start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.

P. S. Pass this on to everyone you know!!!
KEEP THIS LETTER MOVNG!!
I hope this letter gets read by millions of people all across the nation!!
Ever onward!!

Menifee Cityhood is upon us and yet there is very little talk about one key issue I have. Law Enforcement. The latest article I read stated that the new city would initially "contract for services" with Riverside Sheriff. Nothing against them but I don't like that idea at all. Let me explain why. We currently pay $1.5 million dollars for thier "services" now. $1 million to the Sheriff and $500K to CHP for "Traffic services." Now, that figure nets us (Menifee Residents) 1 Deputy Sheriff and ? CHP Officers (since I never see them providing traffic services). How exactly are we to benefit at all from cityhood and contracting unless we are willing to start our own police department? Oh, and let me tell you this "it is not cheaper" to contract with Riverside Sheriff, just ask the City of San Jacinto how much they "saved" by contracting out to Riverside. Nothing, in fact they are paying a great deal more now than they ever did with their own police department. in fact I hear they are considering going back to thier own police department as a result (unconfirmed). Folks we need to do this right from the start, lets' not make the same mistakes other cities have. No complaints against the Fire Department, they are doing a great job (plus at least I see them), but Law Enforcement isn't holding up their end of the bargain. Have you seen the graffitti, gang members, parolees, sex offenders, homeless, and basic thugs running around our soon to be city? Where are the guys in the uniforms being visible and running these folks out of our town (Except for the College Police)? It's bad enough that there are over 300 forclosed homes in Menifee alone, but that is just the beginning. Next we will be a low rent district with little to no law enforcement until it's too late, can you say "City of Perris." Your Thoughts?

i live on grande vista ave and i am ashamed by the carelessness of yards, the drug trafficking, the thugs, the people who think they have the right to drink in public in front of little ones, the loud music. the list goes on . we supposedly have neighborhood watch and none of these issues are being rectified. it is such a shame and an embarrasment.

what happened to having a roof over your head,a place to call home? what happened to people saying greetings and going about there business? why is so many people caught up in what others are doing or how many children they have? what race are these children? are they homeowners or renters? gossiping behind their backs and putting down someone whom is just trying to get by in life with the basics for their children and being thankful for one more day for that roof over their head. thankful for that one more day to see and spend time with their children. it is repulsive for those people who think they are better and going around belittling the people who have less. don't be thankful just be hurtful i guess is their motto. it is hurtful and disgusting. think before you act.

so many people have a problem with the immigrants on goetz road this is sad. they can pick the fruit you eat. they can wash the cars at car washes. they can wash your dishes at restaraunts, they can do so much more than our american citizens can do because they are to busy complaining or being lazy or making excuses to work. while the immigrants are settling for so much less and appreciating what they have. that is or was once someone's baby at one time. how they got here is not important but what they accomplish and do is. you are pathetic.

you know i'm very new to the 24/7 and what some of you say are really blows my mind! why would some people be worried about a few men out on newport road looking for work? i'll bet dollar for donuts that your white! huh come on admit it! i bet if they were black you would'nt say a damm thing! after all you all whip the hell out of them for 400 years and you all kill most of the american natives in this country. hell i'm a vietnam veteran serve this country proudly and would welcome the chance to go back and fight in the middle east, and know that other americans of mexican decent would follow. if you don't like what you see on newport don't get your car wash on newport road don't call molly maids to clean your house but most of all don't stop at that strawberry stand on newport road or menifee road, because hey 8 out or 10 mexicans pick that fruit! hey tell your friends, your family members, that winchester farms are accepting app's right now!!! and well your at it please tell them to put in app's at all fast food places. if you want to stop the problem start in your own back yard. by the way there are more wetbacks from england and canada than there are from mexico and that's a fact from the u.s. goverment. they draw more welfare then the mexicans that is also a fact, but hey look it up now that would blow your mind!!!!! but at least one thing for sure is, the mexican has more medal of honor winners than any nationality that has ever fought for this country, oh by the way that's a fact you can also look that up from the u.s. goverment stats.

Has anybody noticed that construction of the Christensen Ranch townhouse project by Brenson Communities at the intersection of Antelope / Craig has ground to a halt. Is the builder walking away from this project and will it sit abandoned in its current state becoming an attractive nuisence, and if not maintained an eyesore.
Anybody have any information on this project?

about the home developement on craig and antelope i was at the orco block plant out in rialto and being a mason i had a chance to talk to the main driver for harris fence company, and i had mention that i saw their crew out there and he had told me that they were having a hard time getting their money from the developer

It looks like Harris Fence is not the only contractor not getting paid by Brenson Communities. Multiple local area construction companies and consultants who have been working on Christen Ranch appear to have been "stiffed" to date by the builder. Rumer has it that the bank who supplied the construction financing paid the San Diego based developer, Brenson Communities (BC Christensen Ranch LLC) for all the work completed but Brenson's owner has been manipulating the process for many months and has not been paying the subcontractors for work done. Anyway it now looks like the project has shut down! Does anybody out there know contractors who have been hurt by this?
