The Menifee City Council is scheduled to make a decision about control and maintenance of parks on the west side of the city in tonight's 6 p.m. meeting at City Hall.
A discussion of the merits of city control vs. a contract with Valley-Wide Recreation and Parks District has continued for months. The city's contract with Riverside County for maintenance of west-side parks terminates on June 30. Valley-Wide, which controls east-side parks, has made a proposal to run west-side parks as well.
After hearing testimony from both sides during its April 30 meeting, the council set tonight for a decision on the issue. It is one of many items on the agenda.
Council members also will conduct a public hearing on an appeal of the Planning Commission's ruling against a private plumbing business in the Light Agricultural Zoning District, as well as a public hearing regarding a Community Development Block Grant program.
