Paloma Valley High's defense put on an incredible display in the Wildcats' CIF Southern Section playoff opener Friday night, limiting top-seeded Summit High of Fontana to minus-20 yards rushing in a 22-3 Central Division road victory.

The Wildcats (8-3) showed the kind of offensive and defensive firepower they displayed early in the season in scoring the upset victory and earning a second-round home game against Colony next Friday.

Paloma's offensive performance was equally impressive, considering the fact that Summit had shut out its last four opponents. Running back David Solis led the way for the Wildcats, rushing for 172 yards.

Solis' 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter gave Paloma Valley a lead it never surrendered. His 12-yard run in the third quarter took a lot of time off the clock and further frustrated the Summit defenders. His final TD came on a 4-yard run.
