City of Menifee Reports Another Increase in Sales Tax Revenue

Quoting a report by the HdL Companies, the city press release notes that a previously published report that sales tax had decreased was inaccurate. A delay in reporting from one of the city's retailers cause the anomaly in the public report.
According to City Manager Bill Rawlings, the city's focus on economic development and attracting new restaurants is a major factor in the 7.8 percent increase. The arrival of Texas Roadhouse and Miguel's Jr. and the upcoming openings of BJ's Restaurant and Brewery and Panera Bread should continue to increase the sales tax revenue, he said.
"The realization of a 7.8 percent increase in sales tax revenue is yet another indication of the city's strong and improving financial position," Rawlings said.
For the calendar year 2010, the city saw an 11.3 percent increase over the previous year. The increase in 2011 was 12.7 percent.

Has anyone thought of some type of activities for Kids. There is nothing here in Menifee for kids other then the sports parks and different teams for sports. What about a Movie Theater or Miniature Golf Park? What about a water park? Also a bowling alley, roller rink. What about John's Ineradicable Pizza for them at night? What about something to keep our teens out of trouble and parents closer to home instead of traveling to Lake Elsinore, Temecula or Hemet. Also other ideas could be Wal-Mart, Costco, McDonald (off of Scott Rd)more food in the Scott Rd area. Steve's Burgers (from Hemet) Farmer Boys? Freebirds? Olive Garden? White Lime Frozen Yogurt? Dairy Queen? Pizza Hut? Big Lots? What about Hobby Lobby? Or some other type of fabric/craft store. Applebee's Places that we don't need to go out of our lovely city unless we work in other surrounding areas. It seems we still have to travel to Temecula, Lake Elsinore, or Hemet to get some of the things that we should have in our city.

ReplyDeleteI would like to see a 99 cent store come in. there is suppose to be a Wal-Mart come in next year.

All of these retail ideas are great, but remember, retail isn't created by our city government. We need more than just retail here in the area to attract higher paying jobs. Right now we have an unfriendly atmosphere at city hall for any type of business to come to Menifee. These excellent ideas mentioned here from other commenters will be stymied by our current city hall.
