This is a great way for us to help the American Cancer Society raise money to fight cancer. The relay is a 24 hour event and will include the participation of local businesses, neighborhoods, clubs and groups acting as a team to complete the event. Each team should have about 10-15 people minimum.

Do you know anyone who has been affected by cancer? Are you a cancer survivor? Is so, please get involved in the Relay for Life, Menifee August 26th and 27th. Here is an email I recieved from Ruben Longoria.

Good Morning Menifee,

The American Cancer Society is planning a 24 hour, community & family based event called:

RELAY FOR LIFE OF MENIFEE on August 26th and 27th and we would like to invite you to an: Interested Parties meeting on May 9th at Wheatfield Park.

Walkers and runners will go round the clock in the battle against cancer in honor of friends and loved ones, hoping to raise funds in the local community for the fight against cancer. Dozens of business and community teams are forming, and cancer survivors are needed to participate in the inspirational "Survivor's Lap", during the Opening Ceremony.

We are looking for committee members to plan the event along with the American Cancer Society and we were given your name as somebody involved in their community who might want to be part of this great event. We would also ask you to send this invite to anybody else who you might think would be interested in our work or in forming a team for the event. At this meeting May 9th we will answer any questions about the event and provide a short video on what Relay For Life is and how you can get involved. Thank you for your time,

Ruben Longoria

Fighting Cancer in Menifee

by Eric
11/18/2005 11:52:00 PM

I recieved this letter from The American Cancer Society at my cityofmenifee.com website. I thought I would pass it on! Contact: Ruben Longoria Jr.American Cancer Society(951) 300-1232

Good morning,The American Cancer Society is looking to hold an special community event in Menifee next summer (2006) called Relay For Life. This is a 24 hour, team event where families, clubs, businesses, schools and the rest of the community walk around a track raising money in the fight against cancer. In addition and most importantly we spread awareness about this horrible disease. Teams will walk around the track from Sat. 9am to Sunday 9am. Each team needs to have 1 walker on the track at all times. In addition we have activities in which we honor local Cancer Survivors and those people whohave lost the battle against cancer. Menifee was selected to host this event and I am looking to form a committee to help organize this Relay For Life. If you are interested, please send me a email or call me. If you want to learn more about this event, please look at our website (www.cancer.org) and look under Relay ForLife. As of today, we do not have a location nor a committee, this is justa "Baby event" but we have plans to make this an annual community event. In addition, the American Cancer Society has many, many resources we wantto share with the residents of Menifee. We have speakers avaliable for talks at schools, clubs, organizations regarding cancer or programs developed for school-age children as well as providing services for those who have cancer. If you know of anybody you think might want to be involved in this event, please forward this email to them. I am hoping to hold a "InterestedParties" meeting in late Nov. or early Dec. Thank you for your time, Ruben Longoria Jr.American Cancer Society(951) 300-1232
