Pet of the Month - Pure Bred Collies

by Steve
6/19/2008 08:33:00 AM

Four pure bred collies are being rescued today by Katie Bautista, Menifee's representative for the Southland Collie Group, a collie rescue dedicated to keeping unwanted collies alive and well until permanent adopters can be found.

The four collies were dumped at Animal Friends of the Valley by a breeder, probably because the collies had a reached a certain age, and were too difficult to sell.

Pure Bred Collies

Anyone with room in their home is sought to provide foster care for one of these collies. You'll only keep the dog temporarily until a permanent homes can be found for these beautiful pets. Even short term foster homes are sought.

Or, you can just adopt one or more.

Contact Katie Bautista at (951) 301-0591, or email at: ktmenifee@aol.com

In 2007, Animal Friends of the Valley put to death 1,040 dogs, representing 22% of the total dogs they took in, after no one offered to adopt them.

Pet of the Week - Kittens For Adoption

by Steve
12/03/2007 05:00:00 PM

UPDATE (Jan 1, 2008): All five kittens have found homes. Below is the original article...

The Menifee Valley Humane Society reports that they have a litter of five kittens that need adopting.

There are 4 girls and a boy. The orange tabby is a the boy, and the rest are girls. There is a solid grey, grey with white spots and 2 grey calicos.

They were born to a stray mother whom the MVHS rescued thanks to a concerned citizen. A man in her neighborhood was going around threatening to shoot all the stray cats so the citizen called them and they ended up saving eight cats.

These five kittens are just a tad shy but will easily blossom in a wonderful home environment.

If you've already made your mind up to buy a kitty for Christmas, then help out the Menifee Valley Humane Society and give one of these cats a home, instead of buying one from a store.

Contact Pamala (951) 301-6506, pamala@mvhumanesociety.org, if you are interested or have questions.

NOTE: Last week we posted "Mocha" a miniature pinscher & terrier mix. We're happy to report that several Menifee 24/7 readers called the MVHS to express interest in adopting her.

This is "Mocha". She's a mix of Miniature Pinscher and Terrier, about 8-12 months old, and almost fully grown.

Mocha Pet of the Week
She's full of energy and needs a home with secure yard to zip around in, and loves the company of children and other dogs. She loves to go for hikes and long walks and you'll tire out well before she will.

She's currently with the Menifee Valley Humane Society and is available for adoption.

If you have an active family and are interested in giving this fun girl a home please call or email Pamala at (951) 301-6506, pamala@mvhumanesociety.org.

We also want to update you about Buddy, our previous Pet of the Week; he was adopted just prior to Thanksgiving.

Homeless Pet of the Week

by Steve
8/28/2007 12:01:00 AM

We're starting something new here on Menifee 24/7 by running a "Homeless Pet of the Week" in conjunction with the Menifee Valley Humane Society.

If you have room in your home for a pet, please consider adopting a dog or cat from a shelter or rescue such as that from the Menifee Valley Humane Society.

Menifee Valley Humane Society - Buddy
UPDATE (November 28, 2007): This dog, Buddy, was adopted just a couple of weeks ago, and is no longer available.

Buddy is a 2 year old lab mix - one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever know! He is super friendly, social and active. He gets along great with other dogs and kids. He is very energetic and loves to run around at dog parks and go for long walks. His forever home would need to have a large, secure yard and an active family that would enjoy him being a part of their daily routines. He loves to be close to you and has even been known to curl up on laps! He is a very loving dog and needs a family that will show him lots of love and attention in return.

To adopt this animal, please call or email Pamala of the Menifee Valley Humane Society at (951) 301-6506 or pamala@mvhumanesociety.org.

The Menifee Valley Humane Society is a "no kill" rescue staffed completely by volunteers. They rescue feral, stray, and abandoned animals as well as shelter animals awaiting euthanasia. Volunteers foster animals in their homes until they are adopted. You can see all of their adoptable animals online at their website...
