Movies In The Park Tomorrow Night
by Bryan

Tomorrow night at La Ladera park, "Movies in the park" will be hosting another show. Remember the famous movie quotes "E.T. Phone Home", or "Ellliiioooootttt". Well you will get a chance to relive all of those fond memories you had seeing E.T. in the movie theaters.
You will also have a chance to allow your kids to experience E.T. for the first time! I remember it well, watching it on the big screen for the first time. Yes, the graphics were a bit cheesy back then, but the movie was definitely ahead of its time.
So we'll see you there at La Ladera park at dusk for the show!

Movies in the Park - Vendors Wanted
by Steve
2/14/2008 08:17:00 PM
Due to last year's huge success of the Movies in the Park events, which were organized by the Riverside County Economic Development Agency, the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce is jumping on board to sell vendor booths.
Local area businesses are being sought to purchase a vendor space on site.
There will be four movie events this year, all being hosted at La Ladera Park. Businesses and organizations interested in purchasing a vendor space must commit to buying a space at all four events.
Dates for the movie events are: May 23, June 27, July 25, August 22. These are all Fridays.
A 10ft by 10ft space is going for $50.00 per movie event, or $35.00 if your business is a member of the Chamber. You can also purchase a banner at the event for $25.00
Food vendor booths have higher fees, $75.00, or $50.00 for Chamber members.
Non-profit organizations can get booths for $35.00, or $25.00 for Chamber members.
Vendors must provide their own tables and equipment. No electricity provided.
If interested, click on the link below to download the application form, print it out, fill it out, and send it in.

Law of the Lash
by Steve
2/20/2005 08:57:00 PM
Back in December, I
blogged about a movie in which the story takes place in Temecula. The movie is "Law of the Lash". My neighbor rented the movie, and I got a chance to watch it.
It's about a U.S. Marshall named "Cheyenne" and his sidekick "Fuzzy". Cheyenne's been tracking down a gang of robbers led by guy named Decker. They set up operations in a shack just outside of Temecula, and pose as gold prospectors. Eventually, Cheyenne nabs the whole bunch with the help of the Sheriff.
As far as how well the movie portrays Temecula, is not known to me. I imagine the whole movie was filmed elsewhere, maybe in Hollywood, or who knows where. The movie focused a good deal on a store named, "Hilton's General Store". I don't know if there was such a store in the real Temecula.
The movie showed lots of oak trees, chaparral, and mountains strewn with boulders, just like how Temecula probably would have looked.
The beginning of the movie portrayed a stage coach robbery, perhaps this would have been the Butterfield Stage. But it was not. It turned out to be the "Hagerstown-Medina Stagecoach". Characters in the movie also spoke of a nearby town named "Hagerstown". The best that I find is that there was no such nearby town by that name in those times.
But nonetheless, it was an enjoyable movie if you like old westerns.

Temecula in the Movies
by Steve
12/24/2004 09:36:00 AM

In case any of you were wondering if Temecula had ever been featured in a movie, it has. "
Law of the Lash" which came out way back in 1947, features a character named, "Lash" La Rue and his sidekick, Fuzzy Q. Jones, who arrive in Temecula to stock up on supplies. The duo ends up finding thieves and cutthroats running amok in the town, and take it upon themselves to rid Temecula of the bad guys.
I can't tell you if the movie accurately portrays Temecula as it was in the old west, probably not. Movie producers didn't care about making historical documentaries back then. But it would be interesting to see if they make any mention of Swing Inn Cafe.
The DVD is available from Amazon.com.
