Kohl's in Menifee had its grand opening ribbon cutting event this morning, at 8:00am. Even though the store had its soft opening on Sunday, today it's officially open.
A good crowd of people lined up to take advantage of the Grand Opening Sale, which has 25-40% off entire stock, plus an additional 15-30% off if you sign up for their charge card.
Store Manager Mike Sauer was on hand to give a speech. He was joined by councilmen Mann and Twyman. Sauer said that our store is actually the 1,000th Kohl's store to open. He later mentioned to me that technically, they really don't know if our store is the 1,000th or not, because there's other Kohl's across the country having their grand openings today also.
He also talked about this store being so "green", using recyclable products, Earth-friendly materials, and energy saving devices. I'm sure it'll be "green" the other way too.
Councilman Mann gave a short speech, saying, "What a great day this is for Menifee", and went on to explain that this shopping center was the culmination of years of planning and work.

A couple of weeks ago, on Sunday August 18, the "A-Team Volunteers" from Kohl's in Menifee, joined up with Menifee Union School District staff members and family at Quail Valley Elementary School to paint the handball courts.
The soon-to-be-opened store, who says that it's committed to making a difference in the community, will also donate $1,500.00 to purchase books for the school's library.
Heidi Fanning, the District Volunteer Captain from Kohl's was quoted as saying, "Especially in these really difficult times of budget cuts I think it is important for all of us to do what we can to make a difference for children."
