The Supreme Court has upheld them. Due to the little time that people wait in line, there is only a minor inconvenience, which isn't a violation of the 4th Amendment. Also, it has been shown that a person dies in a DUI crash in America every 45 minutes. Since 1968, California has had only 3 days with no fatal crashes, a majority of those crashes was caused by DUI drivers. If a checkpoint helps curb that number, I'm all for them. Also, the cops can only impound the car if the person is driving either without a license or if their license is suspended. Do you really want those people driving anyway?
