News release from the City of Menifee:

MENIFEE – Influential urban planner Daniel Burnham famously stated, “Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will not die."

It is with these big plans in mind that the City of Menifee’s planners and Community Development team approach projects. As National Community Planning Month comes to a close, the City of Menifee recognizes the important role planners play in making Menifee a premier place to be.

It is a time to highlight the important work planners do to improve the well-being of all people living in a community because of planning’s comprehensive perspective. This approach leads to safer, resilient, more equitable, and more prosperous communities.

Menifee continues to be one of the fastest growing communities in Riverside County. With this comes great potential, highlighting the importance of community planning. Community planning is a process that engages residents and businesses to shape the vision for the future of a city. This vision is reflected in plans such as the City’s General Plan.

Planning is more important than ever as Menifee continue to navigate the disruptive changes brought about by the pandemic. Because of this, this year’s National Community Planning Month theme is “Planning is Essential to Recovery.” Community Development Director Cheryl Kitzerow highlighted planning’s role in Menifee’s recovery.

“Planning has always been a priority for the City of Menifee, but particularly now we are seeing the impact planning has on our community’s well-being,” Kitzerow said. “From the ability to support successful building development to ensuring open space is incorporated into project plans, quality planning creates a community where residents and businesses can thrive in efficient, healthy, and economically diverse ways.”
