A Moreno Valley man suspected of multiple robberies in the area was arrested today in Menifee following a police chase, authorities said.

Gabriel Rudy Hernandez, 31, was taken into custody at Highway 74 and Antelope Road about 8 a.m., according to a Sheriff's Department news release. Hernandez had fled an attempted vehicle stop by police that was initiated in Hemet after an officer recognized the suspect's Silver Volkswagen Passat from a suspect flier. Hemet police and Sheriff's deputies pursued Hernandez into Menifee before he was apprehended.

Hernandez is a suspect in seven robberies in Moreno Valley, Perris, Murrieta, San Jacinto, Nuevo and Wildomar, dating back to May 28, when he robbed a gas station clerk at gunpoint in Moreno Valley. Members of the Moreno Valley Sheriff's Station Robbery Burglary Suppression Team has been conducting an investigation of the robberies since then.

Several items related to the robberies were located inside the suspect's vehicle. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center with bail set at $1 million. Hernandez faces felony charges of second degree robbery. He has a June 11 court date.
