One man was killed and two females suffered gunshot wounds Monday during an attack at a location in Homeland, police said.

Sheriff's deputies responded at 2 a.m. to the 26000 block of Ritter Avenue, near Highway 74. They found an adult male dead of an apparent gunshot wound, according to a Sheriff's Department news release. They also discovered that two females had been shot inside a vehicle at the site.

The females were transported to a local hospital and are expected to survive. Detectives from the Central Homicide Unit took over the investigation. The suspect (or suspects) fled the scene prior to deputies' arrival and remain at large.
