Paloma Valley High continued its impressive run in the CIF-SS girls basketball playoffs Wednesday night, defeating Whitney High in Cerritos, 48-27.

That victory improved the Wildcats' season record to 28-3 and earned them a spot in the Division 4AA semifinals. They will take on La Salle Saturday at 7 p.m. at Paloma Valley.

Wednesday's game started slowly with Whitney taking a 9-6 lead after the first quarter and leading Paloma Valley at halftime, 14-10. Paloma made adjustments at halftime, however, and outscored the home team 18-2 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Paloma Valley is led in the scoring department by junior guard Mya Pierfax, who averages 15.8 points per game. Junior forward Sydney Woodley averages 14.8 points and 10.9 rebounds per game

La Salle is 24-7 this season. The Lancers beat Westlake 38-31 Wednesday night.
