Suspect in Moreno Valley murder shot, killed by police

The suspect in a murder in Moreno Valley who had been sought by police was shot and killed Thursday in a confrontation with Riverside and San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies.

Chad James Green, 41, of Riverside, had been on the run since fatally shooting a bail bondsman who was attempting to apprehend him at a Moreno Valley hotel Tuesday night. James Black, 42, of Lake Elsinore died at a local hospital following the shooting. Police issued a public warning about the armed and dangerous suspect.

Thursday's confrontation took place at 11:23 a.m., after Riverside County Sheriff's deputies located Green outside a Day's Inn on South Business Center Drive in San Bernardino. Riverside and San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies ordered Green to surrender but he tried to flee and was shot, a San Bernardino County Sheriff's spokesman told the San Bernardino Sun.
