Heritage girls golf team wins its first league championship

The Heritage High School girls golf team won its first ever league championship this week, finishing the Sunbelt League season with an 8-0 record. The Patriots were 14-0 overall.

Team members are Mia Carillo, Taylor Freedland, Irene Logan, Mia Howerton, Jazalyn Mazariegos, Chloe Lagaspada and Tiffany Vaughn.

"I'm very happy and proud of my girls," said coach Scott Montgomery. "I know how hard they worked this year to accomplish this feat. With only two girls returning from last year's squad (Carillo and Freedland), it took a lot of dedication and practice to finish how they did. Five out of our 7 girls had never played golf before, but with their athletic abilities and their competitiveness they made great progress!"
