A fundraising website has been established for the family of a Menifee woman who died Thursday from injuries sustained in a three-vehicle traffic collision in front of Mt. San Jacinto College Tuesday morning.
Michelle Mejia, 24, was driving alone in her car at 5:28 a.m. Tuesday when her vehicle was struck by a truck as she pulled out of Albion Lane onto Antelope Road from her apartment complex next to MSJC, her cousin Allexa Villanueva told Menifee 24/7. Mejia was transported to a hospital with major injuries and died Thursday morning, Villanueva said.
Mejia was the only person injured, according to Cal Fire. She had to be extricated from her vehicle. The Sheriff's Department has not released any further information on the accident, which shut down Antelope Road for several hours.
Mejia was leaving for work when the collision took place, Villanueva said. Mejia is survived by her husband Alex, known to many as Buddy. The couple has no children.
Those wishing to contribute to the family may do so through a GoFundMe site here.
