Five adult males, including two Menifee residents, were arrested for crimes related to street racing Saturday after Sheriff's deputies responded to two reports of reckless driving involving 50 or more vehicles, authorities said.

The first police response came at 10 p.m. Saturday to the area of McCall Boulevard and Encanto Drive in Menifee, according to a Sheriff's Department news release. Reporting parties stated that about 50 vehicles were doing "burnouts" and that an organized "Park and Chill" event was being hosted by a group suspected of past illegal street races.

Soon thereafter, more reports came in of similar activity on Morgan Street at Redlands Boulevard in Perris. Evidence and interviews indicated that both events were organized by the same group.

Six suspects in four vehicles were detained. One of those was a juvenile who was released to his parents. Numerous vehicles fled from the area, leaving evidence that some collided with each other in their attempt to flee. None of those apparent collisions have been reported to law enforcement, however.

As a result of the investigation, five adults were arrested:

-- Luis Ruiz, 19, of Lake Elsinore
-- Seta Gillman, 20, of Menifee
-- Johnathan Skala, 32 of Chula Vista
-- Omar Rahman, 20, of San Jacinto
-- Austin Aaron, 19, of Menifee

All five were booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center and their vehicles will be impounded for 30 days. The investigation is continuing.

Anyone with information about illegal street racing, sideshows or planned street takeovers is asked to contact Sgt. Dan Ponder at 951-955-2600 or at the Sheriff's Dispatch at 951-776-1099.
