A Murrieta man was arrested for driving under the influence Tuesday after the vehicle he was driving rear-ended another car near the intersection of Newport Road and Antelope Road in Menifee, according to authorities.

Austin Anderson, 18, was found to be impaired by marijuana, according to a news release. Anderson is accused of driving a 2004 gray Volkswagen Passat into the rear of a black 1995 Chevrolet Impala while both vehicles were traveling west on Newport Road, just east of Antelope Road, just after 7 a.m.

Neither motorist was injured. Anderson was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation and was then booked at Southwest Detention Center. No road closures were necessary.
