Scott Road was blocked off just west of the intersection of Leon Road for about two hours Tuesday following the crash of a vehicle believed to be involved in the report of an assault with a deadly weapon, authorities said.

Riverside County Sheriff's deputies responded about 3:30 p.m. to the assault with a deadly weapon report and located a possible suspect vehicle, said Deputy Armando Munoz. When the vehicle did not pull over during an attempted traffic stop near Scott Road and Murrieta Road, a police chase headed east on Scott Road.

The chase ended about 3:45 p.m. when the suspect vehicle apparently ran off the road and crashed at the intersection of Scott and Leon Road. The driver and a passenger were detained.

No other information was available Tuesday night.
