Perris Man Dies in Single-Car Accident on I-215

A Perris man died Wednesday night in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 215 in Menifee, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Fernando Quintanilla, 59, was traveling southbound on the freeway south of Ethanac Road in the No. 1 lane at approximately 70-80 mph, according to the CHP. For unknown reasons, his Suzuki Samarai turned to the right, left the pavement, then struck a utility pole and the freeway sound wall.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
